Urban Valor

Күн бұрын

Today’s Urban Valor story brings us Marine Corps veteran Corporal Paul
Parkhurst in this veteran interview.
Paul takes us through his life before joining the Marines, while in
the Marines, and the struggle of transitioning out of the military after
witnessing traumatic experiences.
Paul recalls a war story where he was shipped off to Kuwait in 2003 in
preparation for the Invasion of Iraq, just 2 months after joining his fleet.
As part of Task Force Tarawa, Paul battled the mental strain of sleep exhaustion and stressors of war intensified by the reminders of the price of battle as his convoy drove past
dead bodies along the roads.
He shares with us the psychological effects of leaving for a second
deployment immediately following the first and highlighting the impact of
being subjected to horrific circumstances. Paul's war story also reminds the audience
that leaving the service -- which for him happened 9 days after returning
home from Afghanistan -- does not mean leaving the stress and anxiety
behind.
Paul courageously speaks about the consequences of war and the necessity
of seeking assistance regarding mental health, which could manifest into
physical ailments.
To those watching, this episode will be a reminder of the impact war has on
combat veterans while in combat and even more so after coming home from
combat.
About Urban Valor:
Welcome to Urban Valor, where we hear the stories of our veteran heroes in
their own words. Within these vet interviews, you'll hear everything from
combat stories, life stories pre/post military, military transition, and
everything in between.
Our interviews aren't just war interviews or combat veteran interviews, but
interviews from any military veteran willing to share. Our hope is to educate
the masses with what our military veterans went through while serving their
country and how life has been since their military transition back to civilian
life.

You'd still have the same freedoms you have now. Iraq and Afghanistan was a waste of human life. Totally unnecessary. Just look at Iraq and Afghanistan now. Is it better than before? Far from it. Hell, the Taliban are back in power! So yeah, sacrafices for nothing.

We’re doing this for the veteran. And have chosen to be ourselves with full transparency. We know that may not be for everyone, but we’re completely comfortable with our audience knowing Josh, the co-owner of Urban Valor, as the open, honest, incredible person he is. We do appreciate the critique Steve, but I’ll let you know now, that we will never ask or want Josh to not be his true authentic self. I understand if that’s a dealbreaker for you, as we do appreciate your support but we understand fully either way!

I found this interview interesting. I also took notice, either he was a little nervous or in describing his experience in Iraq & Afghanistan, it may have brought on some anxiety. I also read Jessica Lynch's book, I am a Soldier Too. Part of her Supply Company got lost, including and especially their radio communication. She had lost her closest battle buddy, Native American woman, when they were ambushed by Iraqis. At the hospital, the doctor who treated and helped her also worked hard at getting her rescued. On our American side, there were doubts and delays in believing certain Iraqis were helping her. There were medical staff helping for her rescue. Regarding her being sexually assaulted, even Jessica stated it never happened. She did have to have several back surgeries and finally completed her university degree. Yes, she too is a Soldier.

I was an EMT for 6yrs and ran calls everyday with PD and SO. The anxiety of dispatch dropping a call on you is definitely real. Especially when it's a GSW or MVA. I ran so many cardiac arrests i stopped counting. The stigma is real. Like "this is what I signed up for" so you just do the job. I decided to step away after that 6yrs and focus on myself but I miss it everyday. I feel ya, brother! Thank you for your service. Both military and in law enforcement.

I'm a US Army Valor w/ V-device winner from Iraq. Where & when did you earn your Battlefield Valor? I earned mine after an ISIL Sucide Bomber drove his truck through our secured perimeter simultaneously detonating a 1,300lb improvised explosive killing and injuring dozens of US Army Mechanics and other Air Cavalry Employees! We lost comms, so. Me being a my brothers keeper. I ran into enemy fire to try and start-up an inoperable electric generator. At the time I thought the batteries were the problem. So, I in the heat of battle while getting shot. I made a run to where I stashed batteries for an emergency. Batteries weren't helping that destroyed generator. So, we found a different comms device. Then I being a Trained US Navy Corpsman furthered my honorable situation by providing aid to every injured or deceased soldier at that FOB. I then furthered myself more by getting an AC-130 GunShip Mates Position. That's where and how I came in contact with Paul Parkhurst. That's also where I started having an issue with his illegal involvement in US Military conflict. I say such because I grew up with The Hurst Family who owns Hurst Automotive Parts. They are all legally blind. As you can see. That guy in the video isn't!
