2024 Introduction to Biophysical Techniques
The LMB Flow Cytometry Facility is a core laboratory for all LMB researchers to use and gives the ability to characterise, quantify and separate cell populations on the basis of surface and intracellular markers.
In this video Fan explains what flow cytometry is; how a flow cytometer works; and what are the sample requirements. She describes the range of the different types of instruments available in the facility including cell and spectral analysers, cell sorters, and mass cytometry and image mass cytometry instruments available locally. She discusses the use of different types of dye and fluorescent proteins and the issues involved in data collection. She describes a wide range of application of flow cytometry to projects within the LMB.
