Talk Africa: Decolonizing education in Africa

There NEEDS to be more FOCUS trade and vocational school, than college, in terms of Africa, because the continent is in an abundance of natural resources, you need SKILLED WORKERS and PRACTICAL knowledge to be able to develop and bring value to these resources, without these, don't even think about a white collar job. When you develop these trades, then it will create more jobs, then you can bring college graduates on board. Another thing, if they are serious, then the ministry of education in these African countries, need to partner with members of the private sector, and hold discussions about what skills they want student's to posses for the job market, so they will have them upon graduation and hiring, this is something that needs to happen and be reviewed and renewed every four or five years. Until then, the employers should consider training potential employees so they can do the job correctly.

THE AU& Individual leaders of there respective countries collectively needs to come together,make an assessment of the state of Africa….stop accepting/signing policies that don’t benefit the interests of Africa:eliminate personal bank accounts.with Africa’s Natural resources no way we should be in this situation.

Why is the kidnapped Afrikans who helped America to be the model of the world for education, not being sought out to assist in the educational system in Afrika? Are we only welcomed to be tourist to bring money to Afrika? Afrikan leaders has forgotten or ignore the fact that us kidnapped Afrikans was taken from Afrika and wasn't able to return until recently. The diagnosis highlight isn't the consequence of colonial inheritance, this is why 'Decolonizing education in Africa' It is a matter of conception. The answers aren't decolonizing education in Africa. Rather to conceive the curriculums in collaboration with one of the end users, the employers. This is to conceive, that is to consider a point in integrating others points, consider your work in taking into account the work of the others. A collaboration or coordination between education system and the corporate world to design the curriculums, can be part of the solutions. I would have asked those employers in Africa who say people 'are half-baked and don’t possess the necessary skill sets for the jobs on offer', etc. have they born with the necessary skill sets. Haven't they obtained these skills through opportunities? Everyone must contribute to solve the problems. Employers say they are half-baked and don’t possess the necessary skill sets for the jobs on offer.' If so, then the problem has nothing to do with 'Decolonizing education in Africa'. As described, the problem seems to be that of conception. How to conceive education so that it corresponds to the requirements of employers. And one of the solutions can simply a synergy between education per se and employers in conceiving the curriculums, with this in mind that when philosophy has invented the concept of 'Cursus Studiorum', the main concern was the being and being in terms of to behave. We shouldn't forget that those who have exploited, ruined the continent are supposed to be weel educated and who claim they have values etc and that some bloody dictators who represent death and suffering, deprivation and misery to millions and millions in Africa also claim they have received education. Therefore, in Africa we need to remind ourselves that it is in morality that the principle of faculties, the reason, finds its full pertinence. Organized criminals can be well educated too.

Ha ha that south African is naive, says a lot about South African educational curriculum ... we are Africans we must propagate our education, history and culture our own tailor made curriculum , our African cultures are not different fundamentally... our languages may differ but basic principles of African cultures are same, also nations determines their budget on education, all countries borrow for public spending ,he cannot say that we have no ability to determine curriculum or direction of our education, we have done it in Kenya so i disagree with the Kenyan guy on that. Let us build our educational institutions to be empowered enough to master their own curriculums. CGTN your panel needs to be decolonized, only the Ugandan knows what he is talking about. Modernization and globalization have nothing to do with our culture for example Chinese, Japanese, Indians and Russians are modern and global people like us but they have kept their cultures and their cultural values. Therefore, we can be very modern but very traditional Africans, African culture is very central to our being so let us Africanize our curriculums especially the history and culture ... the history we teach is completely false and meant to make Africans to think Africans did not rule the world, or did not have powerful civilizations or that African did not invent things ,that Africans did not have education, they did not have spirituality, we even lie to kids about the role of non-African religions in slavery and colonization of Africans ... teaching science to Africans without teaching the history of African sciences is self defeating , American scientists study African ancient science to understand basic concepts of modern science, we take our African history and culture for grated yet they are the master key.

Africa continent with 1.3 billions people a nation with vast young man and woman will become the top 3 world economy after US and China. China has been for decades being Africa continent top bilateral trade partners, helping to develop this continent rather than engaging in wars and destruction.
