Totally agree with you. There’s no doubt the Collings 470JL is an outstanding instrument. The Ron Ellis pickups are phenomenal. The neck is sublime. I love mine.

Julian dreamed it, the team at Collings worked incredibly hard to make the dream real. The magic of the new Ron Ellis pickups were the final piece to this amazing guitar. I've been playing guitar since 1965. The 470JL is simply the best electric guitar I've ever played.

I own one just like that. I sold 3 very nice guitars and gave cash to get it. I agree 100%. Amazing. There's a Tim Lerch video on KZbin where he's playing mine.

Ace guitar. I got one but ... decided to send it back. Why? I think it's probably the best sounding guitar I've heard, but I didn't get on with the neck. Horses for courses of course! Hope you continue to love it.

It was probably too fat, I found it impeded my playing. Strangely, I had an similar 'feel' issue with a Collings i30, even though that's a very different neck profile to the 470. As I say, great guitar, just not for my hands!@@freda9498

Would love to hear about the neck shape. I have a Collings 360 with a nice beefy neck. Also have several proline Gretsches including a Jet with Ellisonics. But Gretsches are known for thin necks. Curious what the Collings take is on the Jet neck… because those JL Collings are even more expensive than most Collings!!!

The Collings is a beautiful guitar but nothing can beat a good Super Strat with a good Floyd Rose or similar tremolo.
