First off, we're told to use our minds and brains in situations not just blindly go into things, second of all, the brother who was saying that he "follows islam" said it in a really condescending way and then he laughed when the sister said her opinion. Last time I checked islam tesches humbleness and respect, not arrogance and proudness in this way. May allah have mercy on the brother in sha allah...

Taking a second, third or fourth wife is allowed in Islam. It is 'permissible', it's not an 'order'. Some men may misinterpret it claiming they 'should' as opposed to simply they 'can'. Having said that, it's true that a man doesn't need a noble reason like marrying a widow or someone poor to get remarried. They remarry because they can. But it would be nice to have that trust in a relationship where a man takes his first wife in confidence before bringing another wife on her. Also, the reason why it is more difficult for women to accept it these days is because of the society or culture we grow up in. I don't have anyone in my extended social circle who has two or more wives. For me it's not a norm so accepting it would be a lot more difficult for me than for a women who comes from a culture where she's seen her father, her uncle, her brother or men around her having more than one wife. Also, men need to be a bit more gentle and sensitive towards their wives' feelings when it comes to this topic. They need to acknowledge how difficult it is for a woman to accept it even if it is allowed for you in Islam.

There is no such thing as bringing a wife ON a another wife, what most people forget is your man getting married it is not any of your business and you should not dwell on it and should carry on as usual. I think the big difference from my country where polygamy is heavily practiced is that we see a man as leader, provider, someone noble to look up to. Not like a piece of property that we own and keep to ourselves. Also women out number men so it's not fair to hog that good man all to yourself. If he can provide for more that one family that is honestly a good thing. One final thing I want to say is us women are kinda obsessed with polygamy like it's the boogie man or something. But fail to realize that all women benefit from polygamy too. For example when a women is single she has unlimited pick of available bachelor's because a man is still not taken even though he is married. Men don't have that privilege when a good beautiful amazing woman is taken she is taken for good. So ladies please free yourself of this polygamy burden it is not you who is marrying this woman it's him. He has to deal with two,three or four demanding, shouting women's need at one time.

Word of advice to bros looking for a second wife. DO NOT BREAK A FAMILY IN ORDER TO MAKE A FAMILY. If you know that by you taking a second wife could cause your wife to leave the marriage, then don't do it. You might be helping out another sister, but you just destroyed the peace and security of the home of your own family. And if deception is involved, I can almost guarentee that she will leave at some point. Is it really worth it? If you have problems in the marriage, address them. If you;re not satisfied, most likely she isn't too. A second marriage maybe a quick fix for you, but if you already had issues in your first marriage... then polygany will break it completely. If you want to take on another wife even if you are satisfied in your marriage... COMMUNICATE WITH HER. Talk! Don't deceive her. Trust is hard to recover once it's gone. You are much more likely to have a happy situation if your wife is on board or if if at least she hasn't been lied to. Otherwise risk getting a call from divorce lawyer. Simple as that.

And ontop of that, nobody actually speaks about the marriage contract, the NIKAH, When the nikah is made, BOTH PARTIES STIPULATE THEIR DESIRES AND WHAT THEY WANT FROM THE MARRIAGE, SO IF A WOMAN REQUESTS HER HUSBAND SHOULD NOT TAKE A SECOND WIFE DURING THEIR MARRIAGE THAT'S IS HER HAQQ, NO ONE PERSON CAN HAVE A HAQQ WHILE THE OTHER PERSON DOESN'T. THE WHOLE ESSENSE OF HAQQ Means RIGHTS, RIGHTS ARE FOR ALL PARTIES, OR THERE WOULD BE NO NEED FOR RIGHTS. THIS ARGUMENT OF IF ALLAH SAYS SO THEN I CAN, STHU, ALLAH SAYS I CAN TOO. A Saudi prince only So today Muslim man is marring more then one , but these female must support themselves ( against Islamic law ) 3) the Quran itself states if your not able to support them equally Take only One wife So yes you nailed it , but I assist with additional information to support that this is all about Sex n it’s a cult men are drawn in by it but the laws aren’t being kept Oh before I forget 4) if a man isn’t in an Islamic country , he must follow the Law of the land , and this isn’t being kept as well They are marring one by law of land and other by Islamic ceremonies ( illegal to must western countries ) So I’ll close with May Jesus Christ correct all these fail teaching

@@Jj-lo3zx first of all it appears to me that you are not Muslim but perhaps and israelite as Muslims we believe that polygamy is allowed but is an exception to the norm, however a sister is not forced to enter a polygamous situation if she so happens to enter into one, not by her own choice, she should try to bear it with patience. As for the law of the land, I don't actually know how valid the hadith is and think it is daeef, since Muslim are told not to love amongst the non Muslim in the first place. So a little confusing if you ask me.

That was way too short for such a complex topic. Some of the male audience members seemed so defensive in their "right's" to have more than one wife; none of their intentions seemed pure. Just because something is permissible doesn't mean you MUST do it. If that was the case, it would have been mandatory, like praying salah. Also, as for the guy saying he might change his mind later on: women actually have the right's to set conditions before the marriage takes place; i.e you must not take another wife. And so if the man agrees to marry her under her condition, hes already agreed to stick to it. like the brother said, even if he were to change his mind later, there's nothing he can do it about, the ball is in the woman's court. Smh, so disappointed in some of these brothers.
@khayr1
@khayr1 6 жыл бұрын
amu5238 the brother was asked that he should disclose if his intending to take on a 2nd + etc wife once married. Now he could intend to not take a second wife but through the course of his marriage he could change his mind and get a second wife . Nothing wrong with that But if the 1st wife stipulates on the marriage contract you cant remarry then he won't be able to changed his mind nor remarry. One of the sisters was implying its up to the Man to be vocal and let her know if he wants to marry a 2nd wife but it should be the Sister that should place the condition on the marriage if she does not want a her husband taking on 2nd or more wifes.

Polygamy doesn't work in today's society, because most polygamous marriage are not upheld correctly, the wives living in the same house, one being favoured over the other, the wife finding out about the second marriage months after the Nikkah and given no room for say, and men cheating the system because they can't financially afford taking care of their families. As a sister, I get very worried when a brother says that he would consider polygamy because it's "halal".90% of polygamous marriages arise from the husband having illicit relations with another woman and then justifying it by marrying her. Those cases of "marrying a Syrian sister to support her" rarely happen. Most brothers use polygamy to have intimacy with more than one woman, not from love.

Men who say that they don have to justify to their wives their desire to get married are the ones who should stay away from polygamy altogether. Clearly you don't understand and respect women, you have no capacity to love and honour them. Therefore you have no business marrying more. Your desire to marry is just to fulfill yourself... not to help the sister. Because a man who wants to sincerely help a sister, would not objectify and disrespect them. The two can't go together. I hope that ginger brother does some serious reflecting. I feel sorry for his wife.

But when deceit and lying is involved and the first wife is not happy and the bro hasn't taken her feelings into account at all then that's not right. It's oppression to force a woman to participate in polygamy if it is destroying her sanity, happiness and deen. It's a very interesting topic to talk about, even though some of the brothers seemed very obsessed of polygamy, however they have forgotten the very essence of the marriage which is having a peaceful and tranquil life ... I just would like to ask an obvious question why would you as a man marry another woman knowing that you have chosen your wife your self and had conversation that she is the love of your life ... ? However I'm not saying polygamy isn't Halal. Aslam alaykum

I don’t feel like the women spoke up enough. The important point they’ve missed is how does you having a second wife change the way I look at you and feel about you as my husband now and not only that the peace in some families changes as well it can bring a lot of drama specially if your first wife doesn’t agree with it. And what a lot of men don’t understand is you’re allowed to have more than one wife in Islam but you have a choice and the fact that your wife knows this isn’t something you must do but you still do it without thinking about her feelings and how this can make her feel as she isn’t good enough anymore you still do it and act like this isn’t going to create family drama. A lot of men want a second wife but can’t even pay the rent on time. Please don’t forget a lot of women are independent and can look after themselves in this day and age so a part time husband isn’t going to cut it. A lot of men marry more than one wife to satisfy their own needs let’s be honest it isn’t to save a sister in Syria who her husband died who has few children. Maybe one or two good men would do that may Allah bless them.

The man in audience with long beared is very illogical, nonsense and arrogant. He says, that man can marry another woman without notifying his wife, to make life easier for himself. Because if man notified his wife, it will make problem for the man. But he does not think of the same thing for a woman. Has he ever thought that marrying another woman will make the life hard for his wife? Or does he think that woman should bear any type of hardship to allow their husbands enjoy their desires? Is this what is called JUSTICE and FAIRNESS?

The problem here isn't the men. It's the fact that women do not know their rights. Fatima ra was one of the best women to walk this earth and she put in her nikkah contract that Ali ra could not remarry while she lived. She was the prophets daughter and she did not want to share her husband with another woman. And that's fine there's nothing wrong with that. The problem here is that women don't know that they can make this condition during the nikkah and they SHOULD know. Also most of the men on the audience saying it's their right etc sometimes instead of looking at our own rights we should look at the rights of others. Yes it may be a man's right to remarry but would it be better for him to fulfill his right or to look at the feelings and rights of his wife first? The truth is in today's society polygamous relationships are not a normal thing and people have not been brought up with it to be able to handle it properly. A man who has not seen his father with two wives would not have any experience of how to deal with two wives and might mess it up. Instead of looking at how many wives a man can get maybe men and women both should look at how to build a stronger healthier marriage between themselves before bringing in a third person. Muslims today need to learn to put others before themselves. We have become more selfish. It's all about our rights when the truth is we should be looking at the rights of others and our own responsibilities to others.

@@peepitsslayplaya5334 First learn manners in how to talk with woman as Allah commanded. People like you love the idea of Polygany because it's allowed but forget that you have to fulfill the rights of all wives and treat them equally. Most men and women also fail to fulfill the rights of Allah, then how do this men think that they can fulfill the rights of their wives. Rather men love the idea of Polygany because Islam allows it and only think about their lust when marrying more than once and don't think about the consequences, problems and responsibilities that arrise from it. All the best men who are mature and care about the rights of all people in their rights can fulfill and have a peaceful marriage with all their wives and that's rare in today's society. As a Muslim, people have rights over us, a wife has rights over her husband. But immature weak men of today's society only think about their rights and how they can exploit it to fulfill their lusts. Forgetting that all your wives have rights over you. Also the fact that it's next to impossible to have more than one wife in this time and age and manage to fulfill all their rights and treat them equally. The men of today only think that they are allowed to do so but have no experience in dealing with all these wives and don't know to properly take care of even one wife. These so called immature men also have no idea to deal with fights, arguments and dislike between the wives and their children. With this comes a great deal of problems which the weak cannot bear and would run. So only the nicest of men can fulfill all the rights and responsibilities of their wives, treat them equally and have a peaceful marriage. So most of them can forget about it, unless they are willing to suffer the consequences in this world and in the hereafter before Allah. Allah has created the woman as well and it's the responsibility of Men to take care of them, so be ready to be answerable on the Day of Judgement if you fail to look after your wives which is guaranteed that most men will fail today. Finally people like you can never respect and treat their single wife properly from the immature way you are arguing and disrespecting woman. You are just a mannerless immature kid who has no idea and experience about how life is and how difficult people and situations can be as a trial in this life.

@I.Am. Abd that comment is deleted, do you know what that person said? No right, so don't presume. I answered that way back because of the words that person used. Or else I would never say that. Also I am talking about respecting one's own spouse and fellow non-mahram muslim woman. I talked in such a way because that person disrespected other woman in the first place. Or else why would I talk like that. My response was for him and people like him. So please don't judge a fellow Muslim without knowing what the person did and said. When it comes to respect, I always respect fellow Muslims, but here I got angry because of how he disrepected other women.

@I.Am. Abd No, you are wrong. Yes it is called presuming or even judging without knowing what has actually happened, as you straight up jumped to the conclusion that I said s*** for no reason . But if you pay close attention anyone can see that the comment was deleted as I responded to a account called @Peep ItsSlay Playa, if that person didn't comment before, how can I reply directly to that account. It's obvious that the person responded first and than deleted his comment after my response. Also did you read my ORIGINAL comment properly. If you read it carefully, you can see that I was talking to a particular person. How can you not know that in the context? You can also see in my ORIGINAL comment that I mentioned about the behaviour of that person disrespecting women. How did you not see that and the context. How did you presume? No you are not entirely correct to judge someone. I can see why you responded in such a way. It is a reflection of your male ego, that you think no one should correct other men, so you take a chance to use 'manners' as a way to patronize someone. I know so many like this, who cannot stomach it that someone should point out the mistakes of men or talk to them in their own language. So you take the guise of fellow Muslim? Literally anyone can understand the context of the original comment, that the 'fellow Muslim' disrepected woman and I talked back fitting as he deserves. You understand it very well, yet you say that you don't know when it's all their. What you only saw is that I cursed someone and nothing else, and inconsiderately patronized me, this is why I don't like the self righteous of most people, who speak without knowledge and Allah knows best of what happened.

I definitely feel that you reacted because I talked about such men like him, and if it was a woman I don't think you would have cared. I have seen so many such men, who get defensive when pointing the obvious mistakes of other men, that they try to be self righteous and patronisize them to cover their mistakes. Right now I checked and in another thread that person who you are supporting as fellow Muslim called another sister as a kafir with no evidence, but just out of hate for women and in the second comment from top, that person called woman as b**** and used bike obscene words like f****, absolutely disgusting, and I have to wonder if you have seen his comment. Not a single man corrected him and responded to him and he called other men as Simp for talking gently with woman, this is his manners? Absolutely away from Islam, what kind of a Muslim is he? These words like simp are used to destroy society and men from behaving properly, in turn widening the misunderstanding between men and women. Yes he is absolutely worst and that's why I responded like that, though I know I could have ignored. Also all men are arguing with woman amd making illogical justifications about this topic but not a single man has the iman to correct himand to protect the honour of other women. He literally disrespected all women, mother, sisters, daughters are woman, won't men correct him?

@I.Am. Abd I ask you since you corrected me, to know your motives. If you would go to that thread and correct your 'fellow muslim', it's only justice that you correct him since what he said is worst. I don't think men like him have much iman that speak in such a way, trying to be manly and disrepecting woman yet like cowards he deletes his comment. I want to know if you corrected me because you got offended that I cursed that man kr if you really care about teaching manners and telling others to keep it in check. Go to that person's comment by (amu5238) which is second comment from the top and in that thread the 24th comment is by @ Peep. I think that we have to stop assuming that a lot of women are unmarried because they can't get married the reality of it is a lot of Muslim sisters are tired of having these conversations and they have decided they would prefer to be single than to have to deal with polygeny because many women are taught that they do not have a choice and that they must just deal with it so rather than putting themselves in a situation where they have a lack of peace they would rather be alone have peaceful lives and have abundance in other ways and take care of themselves, dedicate their life to charity, and even fulfill their desires to be moms by adopting or giving their time to orphans. So we have to stop assuming that just because women are single that they truly want to be married because not all Muslim women desire marriage.

As well as this, Allah swt allowed men to marry multiple wives to benefit the women. There was a time when there was much more women to the fraction of men therefore men had to marry 4 wives to protect and maintain the women. These days men just want 4 beautiful women to swap and switch,that's not how it was told. Prophet Muhammad saw married Aisha RA and increased her knowledge on Islam and various subjects later people around the world came to learn from her. He married khadija whilst she was a much older woman and widow. He married these women to benefit and support them. So if you really want to marry 4 wives remember the yes and conditions: be honest to them, treat them all the same, provide and maintain for all of them (regardless if they earn or not) and actually marry to benefit them not you.

There was a heavy hostility between both women but eventually, they accepted that they were both married to one man. And if you hate that he marries more than 1 you should probably calm down and realize that there is nothing wrong in polygyny and its a sacred thing a sacred right given by allah to men similar to some of the special and unique rights allah has given the women which men has to obey even if they hate it. You don't marry for lust or for having a variety marriage is for loyalty and commitment purposes. Choosing to remain as family with sumone through thick and thin, through sickness and in health, through poverty and wealth remaining together. That loyalty breaks soon as you look for another person to get into a relationship with... and if your wife doesn't want you marrying again you shouldn't because your breaking her trust.

polygamy just is not for me (feels like such an injustice and pains my heart) i would feel lonlier being in any kind of relationship other than an interdependent partnership (not all relationships are for all people) than if i had remained celibate and single my whole life, & that would not mean i would die alone if I had strong communal & extended family relations and other soulmates I was close to as friends. & even in todays issolating world you are not alone so long as you have your Lord. im an introvert so im comfortable being alone and need issolation for periods of time. people are not victims that need saving. & as the sister said, this isnt the only way for those single sisters/mothers to recieve help from either men or women. Allah's help reaches me through different avenues, so men are not to be worshiped as protectors when they need help as well. & this religion & the spiritual life are about more than just meeting everyone's matterial needs but put an emphasis on the regard for the heart. our personal truth is important to Allah and Allah wants to give us what we want for ourselves. so I would divorce myself from any situation that would cause me disease and feel reasured that my sustenance and protection never came from my husband but is of the courtesy/mercy/grace of Allah

WHILE Muhammad hijab has a valid point he fails go ackwoledge the rigths of women firxt and just says if both are willing, WOMEN SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY HAVE A RIGTH TO ACTUALLY SAY NO, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY NO, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER RIGHT, THE LAW OF POLYGAMY IS A RIGHT FOR THE MEN NO SANE PERSON WOULD OPENLY PUSH FOR A POLYGAMOUS MARRIAGE AND WOMEN ARE ALLOWED TO SAY THEY DONT WANT POLYGAMY...AND THAT IS A RIGHT TOO.

preach what? That man doesn't need to justify it. We don't need to justify it to our wifes, it's our right if we can afford it and be fair. And marrying 2 people at once is not wrong. She took offence to nothing. "your making it sound like we're objects" - This is her personal feelings, not what the man said. The man never implied it at all. Clearly feminism has gotten to her and she doesn't understand the rights of a husband and tries to find a hidden meaning in things which are said clearly. This woman would probably be more ok with her husband committing Adultery than marrying a second or more wife. Clearly something is wrong with her brain

Problem here is different people marry for different reasons. Maybe you should know the person that you are marrying and why it is that each of you are marrying. Marriages can end up being a huge mess sometimes, because the other person just assumed that both individuals were marring with the same intentions. If you think you've married for love, but your husband marries so he can have sex with in marriage, then he may want another wife later on.

If I would do polygamy then the woman must be a divorcee or widowed,not because I am greedy or lustful, and also if I would be able to do justice among my wives, women in countries like Syria, Palestine,Yemen etc are widowed,they are suffering a lot, they are helpless so if I would be capable of handling more than one wife and abilities to fulfill their needs then I would marry them and support them 🥺 Inshaallah 🎉

I seen it with my own eyes and in my family the polygamist man dies alone...none of his kids from all his wives want to see him. The wives won't come unless they get their money. When he in hospital each wife said go call your favorite wife not me....none of them want him. He bragged about he going to replace them...always making them compete for his attention and in the end they say screw you!! He died and it was a nasty fight for his inheritance from his wives and kids.

ALi man, your not a very good moderator and i know you are trying your best. You cant keep cutting people and letting other finish someone elses point of view who in fact has the polar opposit view. The format of the discussion is all over the place, its just a bunch of people giving their opinions. There are people on the panel who are very knowledgeable. They should start by giving the ruling etc on such topics and then allow a discussion to follow if someone requires more clarity ont he subject. Here it seems like the blind leading the blind in terms of the audience as no one knows what is the case. The whire revert brother made some valid poitn for exmaples, yet no one in the panel acknowledged this nor refuted what he said. Instead it got passed over to a sister who had the polar opposite view. The panel memebers did not intervene and clarify what is the correct stance. You cannot have lecturers learning from their students. You cannot have a bunch of people who do not know the answer to an equaition, trying to teach each other the equation. This is what is going on.

Ya Muhammad, your knowledge is profuse. Take advantage of this. Don't stop studying. Study aqeedah, fiqh and the likes. You possess a good head between your shoulders. Delve into al-Usool ath-Thalaathah, Kitaab ut-Tawheed, al-Arba’een an-Nawawiyyah, 'Umdat al-Ahkaam, Buloogh al-Maraam, Fath ul-Qadeer and many others. You're articulate. By the will of Allah, use this ability wisely. I ask Allah to keep you firm upon the truth.

Allah left this open and halal but it was different back in those days. These days it’s so hard for a man to keep and love more than one wife. If a man gets married and marries another woman without telling his first wife or even discussing it beforehand he’s selfish and inconsiderate of his first wives feelings. This should be discussed before marriage. If a woman doesn’t want more than one wife for the husband and the man agrees and says that he only wants one but later on marries again the first wife can divorce because that wasn’t in the agreement

I was wondering and please don't take this the wrong way. But is it not advisable for the brothers and sisters to go to a country where the law of the land is sharia. This would truly make your submission to Allah (pbui) more convenient; less temptation to be not حلال‎ ? Closer to your people and the people of God. Do you not have a Islamic obligation to pursue the most suitable home to practise your submission? Thanks in advance for your comments?

I notice y'all keep deleting my messages on here...it seems like you are 100% for polygamy although you pretend to be neutral. I actually tell the truth on what really goes down. I seen polygamy in real life. Y'all talk about it like it's a scenario. The Somali ladies on there know the reality cause they got neighbors and family who been there done that.
