I too am from the wash your meat generation so I will never ascribe to the take it out the package and cook it tribe. I feel like once you see the murk that comes off meat you can't unsee it. Just like rice. 😉 Anyway, your hair is flourishing and this was a great talk and twist! Keep shining Toni!

Im in the US and black. When I was a kid, they use to come down the street on an open covered wagon shouting fruits and vegetables for sale. Went to the fish market. Went to a market where you picked out live chickens and Turkeys then they went in the back and slaughtered them. We always washed our meat. It wasn't until I started watching those cooking shows and found out that they didn't wash their meat.

“Your past is a lesson... Not a life sentence. Forgive yourself and focus on the future.” Happy Saturday beautiful Toni, First of all your hair looks so healthy . I’m just like you when it comes to the Diddy situation. I feel so bad for the victims. I pray for them because we don’t know how many people have suffered in this situation. Another thing, I am pretty sure there’s many more people in the music and film industry involved. Another thing, I’ve always washed my meats and vegetables before cooking. I wash my fruits too. I enjoyed the talk and twist . Have a great day and weekend.🙏🏽✌🏽

When you were talking about your grocery experience, that brought back memories. That was my experience too. I'm in my 50's and a first generation Canadian so I saw my parents washing meat so I do the same. I'm of the belief if someone doesn't wash their meat, I don't want to eat from that person.

Wash your meats, people! Toni, as the oldest girl I went through the same things as you, every Saturday. I hated it....

Well, Ive always washed my meat. My grandmother and my mother both did. Reasoning? They didn't want shards of bones getting into the meat especially when cutting thru steak bones, sometimes they drop the meat and you can't tell what's been on the floor and because it's sanitary especially chicken and turkey.

Toni the ball of hair you see when you take your braids down is not hair loss or breakage. It’s an accumulation of the hair that you naturally shed but it had nowhere to go because it was caught up in your braids

I always wash meat and I’m a boomer from New Orleans. Never seen anyone cook without washing 1st. Fruit and veggies to. I give them a good vinegar and lime or lemon soak then a good cleaning especially chicken! I cook for my fur babies chickens rices and veggies and I wash theirs too 🤷🏾♀️ I know this maybe excessive but the brats and sausages are now coated with something that causes like a burnt buildup when cooking. I give them a good boil 1st gets most of it off then I wash the rest off before putting them back on stove or grill. Flavor is still there and that goo is gone 😊

I also think it is the new generation that do not wash meat. I am in Public Health and I understand the reason it is now not recommended but the reason is because people are not clean and mindful during the entire cooking process. They don't know not to use the same cutting board, to clean the area correctly, to wash hands with soap and hot water immediately after touching and not to contaminate other items. This is why I don't eat at other people's houses/potlucks. UberEats, Hello Fresh, my dog/cat is my family so they can climb all over the eating areas and other things have allowed people to not have to develop sanitary habits in the kitchen. I especially don't understand not cleaning chicken. I have yet to see any chicken without some feathers or access fat or gravel looking stuff still on it. Are we just eating feathers now?

Agreed! I actually enjoy cleaning anyways so it's second nature.

I learned to really wash meat and poultry from watching KZbin and in particular watching Jamaican creators. Before I basically just rinsed with water. I was following what I saw my mom doing. Now it seems natural to thoroughly wash meat. I educated my daughter to do the same thing.
