Can you guys make an episode on if Operation Valkyrie succeeded or an episode about if Stalin didn't die in 1953 and went on to lead the Soviet Union until the mid 1960's?
@jondaniels43257 жыл бұрын
Robert White I agree on both of those, especially with Stalin not dying in '53, that's barely talked about in alternate history.
@robertwhite34577 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is, most of the time the question is what if this person died and they weren't able to rise to power or something like that. The only other scenario i can think of is what if JFK wasn't assassinated in Dallas but that idea has been done to death.
@TalkernateHistory7 жыл бұрын
But Stalin was 75 years old in 1953, how much longer could the guy go on?
@robertwhite34577 жыл бұрын
In 1964 he would have been 85, he can live a little while longer. I don't see him living into the 1970's, 1964 or 65 is my limit.

13:48 The vote to leave Virginia was not unanimous, there were absolutely a large amount of Confederate sympathizers who came from West Virginia during the war and who probably remained there afterwards. The vote was largely influenced by the more populous counties near Ohio and Pennsylvania, the southern and south eastern part of West Virginia still had quite a lot of Confederate sympathizers relative to a border state.

Can we get a red alert podcast, it's alternate history and bad. I love the game but the story of red alert 3 especially I'd bad. Japan declares war on Russia and five minutes later they're laying siege to Leningrad.

5:54 It's fun to watch how you guys try to remember facts without turning to the internet at all. Very commendable in this day and age... By the way, the metal horn at 13:00 is perhaps the only thing true to fact in the film, becuase "Ear Trumpets" similar to this really existed. This film pokes fun at the steam punk genre, which is not my cup of tea, but the novel that started this genre, "The Difference Engine" by Gibson and Sterling, is pretty much worth a read. It's also a legit piece of alternate history.

Rosecrans was not an Idiot I would make a case he was one of the overall greatest Army commanders in the entire war. Chickamauga is the only black stain on his record and cannot be held entirely responsible for the defeat. He was given wrong intelligence on what was going on in his left and moved Woods Division just when Longstreet was moving to attack the position. Bad luck more like it.

I love independence Day. I watch it every 4th of July (my birthday) It's great to have a character named Steve saving the world. That movie represents the height of my childhood. Video games, fun movies, great music. It was a great time to be a kid in the mid 90s. But no, it did not need a sequel or a remake. Wild Wild West, I watched it a lot as a kid, but yes, it's an awful movie and on repeat viewings it just gets worse and worse. I do have to say though, if they had made a better movie I think the Jim West character could have had some shelf life. The idea of doing a steam-punk alternate reality western with crazy alternate reality technology has a lot of appeal to it for me.

There needs to be more alternate-history wild West themed scenarios and stories without the steampunk fiction element in them. When talking about alternate-history it's those years between the civil war and world war 1 that just kind of get overlooked.

You could say it was a potentially huge international issue with what Loveless had proposed in his United Divided. Representatives from Britain, France and Spain in attendance that would support this? These are countries we had diplomatic relations with. Grant should’ve called his ambassadors to each country to go before each monarch and demand an explanation. Is it really their wish to see the U.S. destroyed and they reclaim those lands back? Could lead to another war with Britain. And stain on international relations with the others for decades.
