Find all the horrible things that are said and make notes for yourself asking why....? Honestly, you don't have to actually read it these days. you can go online and find all the inconsistencies in your book. I was sat down in front of a priest and I had my ducks in a row. I started asking him the uncomfortable questions, to the point that I was told point blank that I should not be there if I think suck horrible things. I had to clarify every time telling him it wasn't I that thought that it was his book. He would try and tell me it was an allegory or that i didnt understand the context or something like that. Then I would put it on him asking why should I believe his interpretation over other people/religions who claim to be told by god that its different. LOL. I was kindly told that I should leave. you don't have to go to my extreme and go straight to the priest. but every time your parents say something, ask them to explain why their book says (insert horrible thing from the bible that directly contradicts whatever they tell you).

Damn I feel for this guy, because he has somehow managed to believe in God with the idea that he has sufficient evidence rather than actually having sufficient evidence BUT he was either dishonest or what I think its actually his case, he is too far indoctrinated that he is the type of person to say "just believe & believe & have faith until you believe again". That or he is too thick & cannot ever listen to the other side, he just hears them. I hope he can re-listen to this conversation when he is actually in a spot in his life where he no longer has special pleading & had the ability to actually process what Matt & Jamie are saying. Best of luck to all, stay happy & smile, be nice to others because it costs nothing & last of all enjoy life, learn more & don't waste the time we have whilst alive on this beautiful planet :)

Our family has been extremely fortunate to grow without any pressure to believe in “gods”. Both my wife’s parents and grandparents were strongly atheist. I’m Norwegian born, my wife Swiss ~ both highly secular countries. In Norway, only a small part of the population is christian. Except for muslims, only some 3% of our population, mainly the elderly, attend any kind of religious gathering as regularly as once monthly. Both I and our Norwegian born young daughters were/are protected from being exposed to religious indoctrination at school. It’s been a crime for over 30 years here to expose children to the bible in their schools. Finding anyone of Norwegian ancestry under the age of 35 who believes in “gods” would be like searching for hens’ teeth. Never having been indoctrinated either as child or adult, I find the arrogance of Juan,in boasting that he can introduce anybody to his imaginary sky fairy, to be staggering. I for one have no interest whatever in his delusions.

Get this. My mother is Norwegian, born in Trondheim in 1954, came to the US in 1971 where she met and married my father (they're still alive and married to this day, though my father has had enough of her), had 3 children . She's like every other Norwegian I've ever met or known in most respects except when it comes to Christianity. She is a ZEALOT. A firm believer in the God of Abraham and an unquestioning member of a Wisconsin synod Evangelical Lutheran church. She raised us children to believe and follow the same and sent us to Lutheran schools, insisted upon it. She was not influenced by the prolific nature of Christianity in America, she brought her extreme zealous faith in God and Jesus from her home country. Which I find bizarre, as Norway is not a heavily religious country and was not especially religious when she lived there. I met a Lutheran minister in Norway once who told me he was atheist
@anushkasekkingstad13005 ай бұрын
@@imvandenh In the pre enlightenment days prior to the religious indoctrination of our children in our schools was made a crime, belief in imaginary sky fairies was as common here as anywhere. Indoctrination affects some people more severely than others. I find nothing remarkable in christian clergy admitting to being atheist. In our experience, it isn’t rare. I too find it bizarre that she would become a zealot in Trondheim, especially given her young age when she left. I’ve never met a native Norwegian who could be described as a zealot. Your mother left a long time before my wife or I were born.

@LordLemoncake3 ай бұрын
@@schmetterling4477 Yes, it is simple, people believe in anything if they think that in return they get what they desire. The more they desire something, the easier it is to convince them to believe in something and promise them that they get what they desire. It works in all age groups. Basiacally politicians and priests are both promising something and their job is to convince people that for supporting their agendas people get their wishes granted. If an adult can belive that a politician is a honest representative of the interest of the voters without realizing that the real interest of the voters is not represented by any politicians then we should not be surprised that people can be convinced to believe in anything.

Well, he's also wrong about JW's. They believe Jesus is, in fact, the son of god. They believe Jesus is the active force in the world, and also that he is the archangel Michael. Try reading some of their literature (not their magazine's, but the books/novels they publish). It's a wild ride, and always re-writing the history of their church each time there's a major change in leadership and when their predictions fail - as they always do. It's amazing how fluid the belief's of their rank and file are - I had a JW friend who had books declaring one thing as "fact", and when a new book came out contradicting that "fact", suddenly, that "fact" is what he always believed, even though he still has the other book on the shelf and would deny there was a change. It's a weird, wild thing to see.
