Psycho Killer was released in the late 70s, this performance on Rockplast was way before the Stop Making Sense concert. What you're seeing here is the band's original (minimal) lineup. Great stuff!

Very original lineup was the singer David Byrne and the husband and wife team of drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tina Weymouth. As a 3 piece they were opening for the Ramones at CBGB's in 1975. Later added the second guitarist as a full band member and as they got bigger added more members to their touring band.

@Eugene O'Donnell 2nd guitarist/keyboard player is Jerry Harrison. Before he joined Talking Heads he was in the original Modern Lovers with Jonathan Richmond.

Original line up was Byrne, Franz and Weymouth. Harrison joined before they recorded the first album. It remained four core members.

Tina Weymouth is such a great in-the-pocket bass player. David Byrne is a very unique, and gets most of the attention, but the entire band is great.

Just a reminder that this song is 45 years old. It was ground-breakingly different from the 70s glam rock that prevailed, and from disco emerging at the time in the US and punk rock in the UK. This and their other hits changed the face of popular and alternative music.

The song "Psycho Killer" was written by David Byrne, Chris Frantz, and Tina Weymouth of the band Talking Heads. It was first released on their debut album, "Talking Heads: 77," in 1977. The song's distinctive bassline, sung by Weymouth, and its dark, edgy lyrics have made it one of the band's most famous and enduring hits.

Tina Weymouth deserves (and receives) credit for defining the band's musical sound, and this is one of her many memorable bass lines.

This is the overdub of the original studio version off of Talking Heads 77. I don't know if there's a piece of audio that accompanies this performance but their earliest stuff on video that I'm aware of is from the Old Grey Whistle Test. This doesn't look like that. It looks like a promotional vid. Who knows? I do know that for a time they played CBGB's for an astounding amount of time, building up some strong notoriety. Then they went on Saturday Night Live and split atoms. They played "Artists Only" and "Take Me to the River" and I had to find them. I eventually did at the Pismo Theater in Pismo Beach. Tina was pregnant but if you closed your eyes you really couldn't tell.

Yep! Genius band already inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Great stuff! Are you guys familiar with the live performance, "Peter Gabriel's Secret World?" Absolutely one of my favorite examples of showmanship. " Come talk to me", "Digging in the dirt", "Solsbury hill", "Secret world", "Steam", In your eyes"...sorry 'bout ramblin' - they're all really good. If you're already aware of this, I apologize for the redundancy. Keep up the good work.

Have not found any good videos by The Tubes. Saw them in concert and they put on different costumes for every song. Best known for White Punks On Dope. Scared the hell out of the front couple of rows when the lead singer jumped into the crowd with a running chainsaw. It did not have a blade.

It's just those 4 that are The Talking Heads. This is a few years before the other live performances you've seen. This performance is a live performance, but someone has added the original studio recording audio behind it. I'm not sure why, because the "live" audio is just a good, and also adds a few extra improvisational moments.

This was off their first album, Talking Heads ‘77. They started off as a three piece, then added Jerry Harrison. The other people on stage with them were touring band members only. There is a great video of them doing’The Great Curve’ live in Rome. Sound is good, video not great, but the audience is going crazy. Pretty cool. Or do ‘Take Me To The River’. A cover song but very good. Pretty big hit.
