It was a pleasure to interview Swedish knifesmith Fredrik Spåre, in the most unlikely of places, sharing a Japan knife trip together. He took the time to answer some of my questions while we were in Osaka. This interview is a great opportunity to learn more about him, his handmade kitchen knives, and share a few laughs. Spåre's work can be defined by his breadswords, coreless damascus and overall gorgeous simple aesthetic on knives that are intended to be used.
Stick around till the end and you'll even see him work steel at two famous Japanese hamonos.

Love the interview Franki and Fredrik. It was great to see the personal side of a bladesmith and his explanation on what is involved with making a custom made knife. Apex is a great steel for knife making and hopefully it will become more affordable over time so more people can afford a knife made with it. Franki, I recon it's time for you to take the next step and make/forge your own knife.

Glad you liked it Greg. Baby steps haha. IF, I ever somehow on this Earth have time to do more than what I am already doing now, I'll start with making ONE handle, definitely not forging hehe

While we conducted this interview, I believe you were being a cool dude with Nakagawa-san. I love that, the SanMai of food. Would be a great slogan on a t-shirt.

Great interview! 🔥👏 So nice to get to hear you guys talk about the same things but from different perspectives. As of a maker and a very experienced customer/user. 👍 And yeah Fredrik, raggmunk och fläsk is really good any day of the week! 😉😊

Talking to Fredrik was insanely enlightening for me. Because as you said, though we love the same things, our perspective is totally different. I'll need tp try this Raggmunk!
