TALKING Like A TRINI - Can you UNDERSTAND?!?
#trinidialect #trinidad #caribbean
After receiving a few comments asking what language we are speaking in the videos, I decided to put together this video to help as much people to better understand what we are saying.
The first part of the video deals with some general terms that most Trinis use on a day to day basis...
The second part is in reference to what we call a number of fish species in Trinidad...along with their better known "international" names...
The last part of the video gives a quick breakdown on the names of the different members of the squad.
Hope you enjoyed this video and it helped you to get a better understanding of the videos! If you want to see more videos like this, let me know and I will do another!
Thanks for watching! Fish on!

I was in Trinidad in 2002 for 3 months. Initially was hard for me to understand but soon I became familial with the accent. I hope the doubles are still sold there 16 years and I still remember the taste. I pray God takes me back to Trinidad again

Venezuelan here, all time I think on learning Trini English I think on you guys, the fishing guys. And some of the names of fishes are exactly the same or literal translation of the names of the animal in Venezuelan Spanish, like guabina / wolfish, that word is actually a caribba word comming from the indigenous languages of the area. P.D.: Are you Desi descendant.
@KoSMTT
@KoSMTT 4 жыл бұрын
That's awesome to here man....And very interesting to know...It's amazing how everything can be related...Can sound very different, but meanings are the same...Thanks for the info...You can say that I am a descendant of the East Indians...They came to Trinidad almost 200 yrs ago!
@TheGrmany69
@TheGrmany69 4 жыл бұрын
@@KoSMTT Yes, I am aware of the East Indian populations in the Caribbean, Venezuela also has Desi descendants to the orient of the country, I probably am one of those as part of my family is from Guayana (not Guyana) which back in the time was the centre of the gold fiver in "El Callao", the Indian and Pakistani workers brought by the English also settled down in that area back in that time but the culture faded away and only the genetics and part of the gastronomy remains. It's amazing how ignorant is my people about this extremely interesting and rich ethnic and social history of the Caribbean that also include part of our history.

If my country restores peace in the future I invite you to come fishing to the Orinoco river, you will have great fun fishing peacock bass and payaras, that river is like a sea. Or even fishing piranhas in the llanos...

@@TheGrmany69 You are enlightening me as well...I really was unaware of that Venezuela had such a diverse mix of people...But your explanation clearly shows how...Thank you again for this information. And it is sad to know that people are ignorant of such important facts.
