Every time I see a team that just doesn't seem to have it I always say they need a messier. He was everything you could ask for in a player. As talented and clutch as he was his leadership was top notch. I know this this 3 years old but he is in amazing shape still.

I wish I could play this amazing sport but I don't have the money to buy gear but this doesn't stop me from watching these awesome videos
@userrnamenotavailabl7 жыл бұрын
In my area some of the clubs will loan/help out begginers with gear, you should try to get an old stick from someone, and a green biscuit to start stick handling on concrete or wherever you can. Its a lot of fun.

Both Bauer and CCM have very affordable lines of hockey equipment for the newbie! You can easily get into basic equipment and take a "learn to play" class at your local rink and be playing in no time.

Jim Atkins I'm 13 105lbs and 5ft 4in so what size gear would you recommend
@Broxty7 жыл бұрын
Harry Tolhurst IV Buy used gear... you could pickup an entire set of gear for under $250. Go to a local retail store and get sized, then walk out of that store and search online for cheap gear in that size.

It's incredible, I saw a TED presentation on old athletes compared to today's, and the differences weren't much. When you consider training is so much more advanced and specialized now. Equipment, playing surfaces, diets, and lets face it performance enhancing drugs. You put a lot of the greats of the past into the modern day, and give them the stuff we have, and they'd still kick arse. Messier, shite, he'd still be taking names.

5:25 Heh... come South to Kentucky and we've got left over, broken pads, helmets that fall over kids eyes, and rental skates that are lucky to be sharpened correctly, if sharpened at all. Not quite as bad as The Mighty Ducks first equipment, but not too far off. I get out there with the 5 - 14 year old first time learners and we all still have a good time. I was a first time learner just a few years ago myself (at age 40+)!

MM Legend talks about marketing
@anotherbutt4chair4547 жыл бұрын
I think what might have been mentioned what the coach was looking for was how the game changed, the reduced weight, lighter sticks, really translated to a notion of encouraging player speed, faster. Think a big game changer was Bobby Orr. And teams want to continue getting faster, though were still waiting for the second re incarnation of Bobby Orr. Maybe a hundred years from now when robots replace humans.

You had Mess on to talk gear and didn't discuss his legendary Winn Well helmet? The fact that Mess was so obsessed with the helmet that he had new dies made to press new foam padding exactly the same as it came in the Winn Well 2000 helmet. Better yet, not the foam that came in the Cooper SK2000 that was the successor to the Winn Well 2000 bucket that Mess used until he retired.

ITS TOO EXPENSIVE ,I was teaching five times a week and now its not worth it, most my kids i taught played college but now its geared more towards people who have money and have no intentions of playing college or any higher then midget level, I cant teach kids who really dont want to play but the fathers want them to and its just another activity so your technically baby sitting
@larky3686 жыл бұрын
Ironically the more protection the new equipment provides the more injuries occur because it allows players to skate faster and hit harder under the false belief that they are bullet-proof.
@tmlfan77856 жыл бұрын
larky368 absolutely. It’s the same in most sports. Football is way more dangerous than rugby, yet they actually wear padding.
@djrondo12244 жыл бұрын
Your lucky he didn’t elbow you in the jaw or cross check your teeth out. And of course Messier out making a buck or $1,00000. Mark wore Daust early in his career and CCM tacks during his prime years. Bauer late in his career. If I am not mistaken he would only wear skates for a game or two. I mean come on if that’s real what a joke. Will say He was one of the best all time players ever and I enjoyed watching him but my gosh he was dirty!
