Yeah, it's kind of sad that people still believe such things about ravens and crows, I guess these views come from christian idea of what a raven symbolizes (because they feed on dead animals and people if the get the chance)? I am not exactly sure. But compared to the norse mythology ravens are actually recognized for their intellect - Odin or Wotan (in germanic) had 2 ravens (Hugin and Munin), in the myths it is told that they replace his lost eye because of their "foresight" and wisdom (kind of like the owl for Athena) which probably results from observing these birds and seeing the doing all kinds of highly intelligent activities.

Obviously, studying them like the biologists do and learning the patterns in their (social) behavior and so on in a scientific view takes lots of IQ... these people are scientists for a reason :D But even a "simple" person without much knowledge can easily observe that ravens got some kind of higher intellect than other birds. I for example don't know many scientific facts about them but I saw myslef, by watching them through my window, how intelligent they are just by seeing their behavior: I saw how they used the streets and cars to crack open all kinds of nuts they found, they place them on the street where the tires of cars move along and then wait for a car to crack them open so the ravens or crows (I guess it were crows in this situation) can feed on the edible parts. So yeah... just by observing your surroundings a bit closer everyone can find these things out :D

Raven is an extremelly intelligent bird, i once had one in my house, we found him when he fell out of his nest, so we took him home and fed him, he grown up pretty quick, so we put him into the big cage for the night, and he was free at the day, but he never left. He liked to hang out with neighbour's pigeons and scare the shit out of our dog. Too sad we had to set him free in another town, because neighbours threatened they'd poison him for being too loud at morning. I hope he socialized and lived a happy raven life

Ravens can literally imitate stuff easily, last time I heard a Raven screaming Max and I thought It was a person.
