Good tutorial John. Small bag or wading vest for sure to limit how much I carry. Sometimes my fishing partners ask if I'm storming the beach or going fishing. Love me some 2 &4 # diameter braided line on ultralight and light spinning combos. I start my newbie friends on the Shakespeare micros. Nice walk through brother man.

Awesome video man!!! A few tips I give creek anglers are wearing camo and or natural colored clothing!!!. I get a ton of people laughing at me but when you are fishing a clear stream fish can definitely see above the surface of the water. Also, people tend to not give fish enough credit for the lateral line system and their awareness of their surroundings. Fish oftentimes more than not know when something is up in a creek. You are basically hunting fish when you are in a small creek or river system and that's why I love it so much. It's more of a chase than anything! Good luck this season. I hit my 2k sub milestone today pretty pumped!! maybe one day I will make it down to Tennessee.

Beetle spin, rooster tail, crickets, worms, for the skinny water. 4 inch lizard and craws for the deep holes.. those are my go to baits. John I appreciate that you take the time to show how you do what you do. I tried taking the spinner off a bettle spin and absolutely wore em out after watching one of your videos. While I love nothing more than to go to close quarters battle with big bruiser smallies in the streams and creeks, sometimes almost nothing beats grabbing a couple small lures, an ultralight, and focusing your pack on drinks and snacks. Stakes aren’t high, but the fun is. All around great time. Love the video as always, God bless 🤙🏻

Panfish assassins and trout magnets are definitely my favorites for lighter tackle. Not gonna lie the crickhopper is really pulled through lately on some bass around my area. When it comes to minnow crank baits I typically use a teeny r as well and the Arkie 220 crank. Really love your videos I always follow up with your recommendations on lures, rods, and everything else. Keep up the awesome work I can’t wait to see what’s in store for your channel this spring and summer!

In my creek I use the 2lb Trout SOS. Its clear enough I need as long a cast as possible while wading. Super strong for what it. Ive been using trout magnet heads but I've recently acquired some Mulefishing Mule Jigs that are great quality from a small business. Excellent instructional video as always.

I bought my first kastking calamus rod after you showed it the first time, I bought 6 ft, light, loved it so much with a pflueger 25 supreme I bought another one, the I bought a 5 ft and put pflueger 20 present on it, don’t use it much, but nice in tight spots, then I bought the 6 ft med light and put the pflueger 30 supreme XT, I love them all, I bought a few for other buddies and gave them to them too, when they reduced them to $30 Christmas a year ago, the new model is the resolute, I don’t have any yet, mainly because I take care of my stuff, I use them every week most of the year,....I love everyone of them

I like a medium light with a limber tip and open face reel. 8 lb or less braid my momo leader. I can really cast in some tight places with that set up. Like overhanging limb etc. Small soft plastic baits. WORKS well for me. Most of my fishing is in N E Alabama

the Calamus is no longer made by KastKing..they tend to change up every couple of years. Crixus or Resolute (I have a ML Crixus that I like) is the replacement for the Calamus. I tried 13-Fishing, but the tip snapped off after 2 casts and their warranty return would have cost me more than I bought the rod for. I am still looking for a good 6' UL. Might have to give that piscifun a try..

I scour eBay for stuff. Just got bearings to replace the bushings in my Daiwa 500C which is a classic micro spinning reel. A Lews Xfinity Speed Spin which is s surprisingly good reel and a Daiwa Regal-X 2505 spinning reel for schoolie striper fishing. The Speed Spin is a 100/1000 series reel.

John, or anyone who cares to answer this....I am bad at tying hooks on my line, so needless to say, I don't switch out bait/lures very often. Is there someway I can set up my line to be able to just switch out lures/bait easily? I'm not out for trophy fish, just having fun so I don't need anything fancy. I just bought a zebco rod and reel with the push button release. Tried it the other day and I do better with it than my more expensive rod. I just hate tying different hooks or lures on and want something easy.

Some of the small swivel and latches work great. I don't use them on any jigs, worms,etc,but on any hard plastic I use them all the time, plus it keeps your line from twisting. I have never had any swivel and latch break on my in any size, but you can step up to some slightly larger ones. They do come in really handy with catfish with all of their rolling/twisting.

Tie your line to a swivel. Then tie whatever lures you want (crankbait, spinner, jig, etc.) To about a foot or so of line and tie that to a clip (many swivels have a clip connected to it) Then you can clip and unclip the different lures onto your swivel. This takes alot of tying upfront, but not out while you're trying to fish

@@kathyk8310 I just tie my swivel on my line then hook the swivel directly to the lure as long as it's relatively small compared to the crank bait, hard plastic bait, etc. I do not use them with soft plastics at all since they are usually fished slower etc. I still tie direct to the hook on smaller hard plastics like the teeny r, pretty much anything shorter than 2 inches I will tie direct. I have never made a leader like the other commenter is talking about, but that sounds like a good idea too if you don't mind being careful about winding that into the first eye of your rod. All good ideas and will keep you from tying on new lures all the time.
