You could take Bill Kazmaier from early eighties and with todays training he would be right up there, so far ahead of his time

That was the most engaging 76 minutes I've experienced in a while - Kaz is such an amazing athlete and has such a sharp mind! Had time permitted and the questions gone that way, it would have been worthwhile to hear Kaz recount the story of Pure Strength 1989 where he nearly caused O.D. Wilson's death. From the tape of the show, you can see Kaz's guilt and shame when the reporter asks him about it afterwards. If any broadcast moment showed the depth of Kaz's heart, it had to be then. There's no doubt that the Lord saved O.D.'s life in that moment and humbled Kaz more than anything or anyone else could. Yet... "[Kaz] waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto him, and heard his cry. He brought [Kaz] up out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set his feet upon a rock, and established his goings. And He had put a new song in Kaz's mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord." (Psalm 40:1-3) Well done, Kaz - and thank you and well done, Loz, for your kindness to the world by sharing these interviews!

Really loved that light shone on the great strongmen of the past, if you haven't already you should read Arthur Saxon's book on strength and muscle building, you'll be amazed how accurate their techniques were over 100 years ago, perhaps in some ways even better! Really fun read :)

I wish Kaz was my grandad & PT! 😂😂 He was inspirational, loved listening about his background and the shit he had to go through in his life, a horrible dad, a tosser of a Teacher, not being invited to WSM as well as loads of injuries! It's amazing what he's achieved and what he's lifted (squat, bench & deadlift). He's truly a strongman legend! Big thank you for making the video. Cheers, Billy

I have a great story meeting Kaz. He was coming to our local gym back in 1981. I was in a spot where I could see the front desk, and the girls at the reception, but not the front door. All of a sudden the girls at the front desk perked up and smiled, and were all excited. It was Kaz coming in. I needed to get by, so I had to go by the front area. I tried to slide by, just be a piece of wallpaper and slide by unnoticed , just a skinny kid with a membership, not any part of the event of Kaz's visit. I tried to slide by unnoticed, but Kaz looked me dead in the eye and said "how's it going, man?" "Uuuh hi" Didn't know how to respond, but it was cool he was willing to say hi to a kid.

I get where your coming from but the reason Z is considered the greatest is because the amount of records and titles he achieved. He won everything there is to win more than once such as 4X wsm, 4X Europe strongest man 2X IFSA champion, 8X Arnold champ, ridiculous amount of Lithuania strongest man and he has broke over 70 world records in the sport Pudzianoski never achieved anything near that
@MarcoK6969
@MarcoK6969 2 жыл бұрын
@@jaydenwilliams8440 okay.. But to not give Pudzianowski a mention while talking about the greatest is like discrediting the competition of WSM itself then. Because he won it the most times which is simply amazing and is something Zydrunas could not do with all due respect. Zydrunas could not do. But ok fair enough Zydrunas is the best then.
@hristo5689

I agree, their head-to-head record is: Pudzianowski - 15 wins Savickas - 8 wins Pudzian is the only strongman to have a better H2H record against Žydrūnas (before 2017 and his injury). If you look at the events won (being placed higher) between the two the gap is massive in favor of Mariusz too. Of course there are static strength, longevity or records arguments in favor of Žyrūnas but the original idea of strongman was the test of strength, stamina and speed combined and nobody, except for prime Hugo Girard for a while, could match Mariusz in these aspects. There’s always a “what if” debate with IFSA split and would Pudzian still have won the championships. The answer is there’s little to no doubt. Excluding ASC (because it was a TOTALLY different and independent competition from the rest and the results from there wouldn’t be equivalent to those in WSM/IFSA) before 2005 Pudzianowski defeated Žydrūnas 15 times and lost only 4. Keep in mind that “losing” wasn’t dependent fully on him but also sometimes on other competitors like Virastyuk who, in 2004 WSM, where Mariusz (before that disgraceful disqualification) lost only 1 point to Savickas, was the ONLY reason why Big Z finished above. If Vasyl didn’t participate that day Mariusz would’ve finished with most points. Plus nobody can argue that Mariusz wasn’t in his top (not even best) form at the 2009 WSM. He came back after a huge injury and during his recovery he admitted that he was already training for MMA more than for strongman (although he was putting a lot of effort to both of course) and was way weaker than the previous year. Actually farmer’s walk, plane pull and atlas stones were present at the 2008 WSM as well. If we switched the results in these events between Pudzian from 2008 and 2009 he would’ve won in Malta by 3-4 points. That all being said, taking only WSMs into account - when Žydrūnas defeated Mariusz he did it: a) due to Virastyuk’s peak performance and b) against Pudzianowski on his last performance when he was transitioning for martial arts while on the other way around Mariusz defeated Žydrūnas by big margains, especially in 2003 with 20 points and by far the biggest dominance in the competition’s history. That’s the difference.

I hate how in WSM in the whole "greatest" topic that Pudzianowski is not credited alot of the time. Like him wining it 7 times is proof enough to be in the GOAT running... ppl say "Those where the easy years" or "This guy here is stronger" , You cant ever compare an athlete from 20 years ago to an athlete today with how much weight lifted, Just like you cant compare almost any vintage Olympic numbers with today's, its apples to oranges, If its not the better tech in training equipment its also the evolved tech in training methodology... You can only compare how many times an athlete won the title or placed highest in each of there competition time periods...

@@nollaigire2367 I wasnt specifically targeting Loz, but in many of these vids by bunch of different KZbinrs i have noticed how Pudzianowski was down played bigtime, maybe they are younger fans and are only going by what other youtubers say causing one opinion grow into multiple platforms... I am probably subconsciously bias too since Pudzianowski is my favorite AND i am Polish, Imho not only did he win the most WSM titles but he also did it with a completely different look then most strongmen and he went on to do decently in MMA... Like those should just help support him in the "GOAT" conversation

He probably could have yeah, but it's his own fault they stopped inviting him. He was such a a**hole to officials, fellow competitors, and even fans. Not to mention that he was violent and dangerous and nearly killed a fellow competitor (OD Wilson) . It was a very good choice not having him around. "Four objects were carried simultaneously by teammates up a hill inside a castle and loaded onto a platform. The United States was disqualified in this event when Kazmaier attempted to block Magnusson from getting up the hill. As Kaz bumped into Magnusson, the Icelander lost control of the barrel he was carrying and it fell off a ledge, landing on O.D. Wilson and nearly killing him. Kaz coming up to my table at the 1999 Mr. Olympia and asking if he could sit down and eat with me was one of the coolest moments of my life. Such a great guy.
