Drew and Rob created incredibly captivating vibes where it felt like they both bounced off one another and the podcast just flowed so seamlessly. I finally understand what everyone meant when they described Drew as such an engaging speaker, and how he was such a threat for the final tribal council. On the show, they used a lot confessionals where he was using metaphors and references, many of which I didn't understand, so I couldn't relate to him then. As someone with a relatively short attention span (even for reality TV podcasts), this one flew by before I knew it and I'm craving so much more. It was also very heart felt when Rob reassured Drew that Survivor was only a chapter in the grand scheme of life and that his feelings for the game will improve eventually, especially for someone like him who has so many aspirations beyond the show. Please come back, Drew!!

Drew is always great to listen to. Dude is super insightful and has a pretty unique view of the game. Especially loved the point about the “superfan” archetype, and how it seems like nowadays anyone who is even remotely strategic and fits the stereotypical “guy with glasses” is immediately labeled that way despite some other players fitting that bill way more. Fun episode!

I can't believe Drew has finally pointed that out - about how the jury literally sits together and talks about what they did wrong, who they hate, and they effect each other's votes too much. But I guess that's the price potential winners pay.
@TheMurrmursonbottle8 ай бұрын
One of the key things he mentioned is “they think of how their edits will be depending on who wins” which is such a good point, it’s an inherent major conflict of interest with the jury

Is it in the end, "Who do I like the best?" to give the win to? Or is it really, "Who can I stomach losing to?" as the jury's real motivation? Nobody ever on any podcast has put out this idea. Why not!? What the hell guys??

I will echo the previous commenters and say this was excellent. The only thing I'd add is that I agree Venus is a gamebot but a very atypical one. I don't think the fandom is ontologically opposed to gamebots they just want them to be dynamic characters like she is.

Love Drew. One of my favorite players in the New Era. Napoleon Gun Kelly was so much fun to watch in 45. 100% agree with Drew using the narrative term to describe how Survivor is won. I talked about the Know It Alls last week. It’s much more beneficial to see Survivor as your own personal narrative of how you played the game. What is your motivation? What were your reasonings for the moves that you did? What was your arc? I feel that is a much more holistic account of a game based around relationships than arbitrary checkpoints for a “resume.”

1:08:27 The problem with this plan is that playing the idol gets Q out. Liz needed to get the votes on someone else (probably Maria). By just getting Q out, the three Sigas are still together, and the dynamics are not shaken up enough. Whereas taking Maria out really could've given Liz a much better position

@tmm41958 ай бұрын
Fun podcast but he had a terrible take on the jury and them getting it wrong. There is no such thing as them getting it wrong. Players have to adapt based on not just the game and elements, but the people they are playing with. That's literally a part of the game. How did Russell deserve to win Samoa when he didn't try to make friends with any of the jury? Russell completely ignored half the point of the game. In a way the best player does win cause the whole point is to get to the end and convince most of the jury to vote for you. If you did that, you are the best player of your season. You did what the others couldn't
@Noid12208 ай бұрын
People tend to forget that part of the game. Just because the player is entertaining doesnt mean that person deserves to win.
@blackwidowbrigade50428 ай бұрын
I think Drew's thoughts about the jury system are interesting. I always wanted the jury members to be separated from each other except for tribal councils. That way there is less unanimous decisions from the jury and people are more comfortable voting how they want without the peer pressure from other jurors.

Great interview. Drew is funny & speaks as a fan & player. I do have one dumb question. Who is the gamebot he’s talking about in 46? It’s Charlie, right? I think Charlie, Drew, Carson & Zach are all the same archetype right?
@fern88048 ай бұрын
I don’t think he was talking about Charlie. The person he mentioned he said has poor social relationships that they don’t upkeep, and is upset when people aren’t talking strategy. I think he was referring to Q. Or maybe Venus. I’m not quite sure, but with how Drew described them, it didn’t sound like Charlie. Before he went on to describe them Drew mentioned that he didn’t like how people viewed as “gamebots” are typically white guys with glasses, I don’t think the person he described fits that criteria.

RHAP, LET YOUR GUESTS SPEAK! Whenever Drew disagrees with Rob, he'll listen until the end and then when it's his turn he'll talk it through, and explain why he thinks otherwise. Whenever Rob disagrees with Drew, Rob interrupts him and stops him from further explaining why he feels that way. Why?!?!?!? I think Rob is one of the best Survivor podcasters out there, but please get over yourself! Let your guests talk about what they wanna talk about because they're literally only on your podcast to share their thoughts on the season ONCE (if they're lucky). Okay, Rob? Let your guests talk. I think out of a lot of new era castaways, Drew is most likely to improve his game in a returnee season. Heck, the candidates for a brain tribe is kinda stacked and we got to see a lot of them on this podcast during the season. Obviously Drew falls into that category. The only concession I want is that if there is a returnee brains tribe, Jelinsky should be on it.

i think it was a fumble by Kenzie first, Liz second. 5 votes on Tiff. 3 votes on Q. the people who voted for Q was (Venus, Tiff, and Kenzie) if you get Tiffs vote, (either Kenize or Liz's Vote, and then Venus' vote) you can have tiff play her idol, keep ur ally safe, and then vote out Maria or Ben. Kenzie could have kept her #1 ally who wouldnt turn on her, get the idol out, get a siga member out, then have a chance to find the idol. you want to sandwich yourself, much like charlie is doing

See, I don’t think Liz actually DOES know she’s on the bottom. She thought her wanting Soda out was “her move,” and was frustrated it got blown up, but no one was even paying attention to her or realizing she wanted to make that move. And she never seems worried or frustrated that she’s on the bottom…so I don’t think she thinks she is. At all.

Appreciate the insight of food on each beach. They are making it out that Liz isn’t eating at all but yet she doesn’t show the some of the signs of severe malnutrition. One scene in which she’s talking w V she looks like she’s eating coconut 🧐 we are like what is she eating?? It’s white and small. I honestly don’t understand how they don’t go into refeeding when they have rewards of food. If she has been truly been without food like she’s making it out to be Q saved her life bc she would’ve gone into refeeding and died. The huge surge of insulin to process the food shifts electrolytes and the already low electrolytes can cause death.

Love Drew's take and hearing his vocabulary. Agree with Drew re Q. While I still say Q, like most humans, is an emotional player ... he's staying in the game and he didn't owe Liz a thing. I would think she came on survivor knowing she was allergic to most things. I'm not sure how any responsibility would be put on Q. So what if he blew up your game. It's Survivor not America's New BF.
