i think this game has so much potential, looking forward to its finished version when it meets the creators own expectations. And like others here have said, skate 1 was his favorite game so that's very promising. If this game ends up being a more realistic version of skate 1 then it will be gold. I just realllly hope they sell enough copies to implement online play as a patch / update, as online play with friends (even just freeskating) will increase peoples play time of this game dramatically.

Thank you for taking the time to make CC subtitles for the interview, I know from past experience just how surprisingly annoying and time consuming it is. Also do you have any info/ advice about how you go about securing interviews as a small KZbin channel?
@GameBrainOfficial7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching :) Yeah subtitles are ridiculously time consuming hey. I uploaded a notepad file with them all perfectly typed and now I have to go back and re-punctuate everything in KZbin :'( venting my frustrations over here...My only advice is just be persistent, and when you shoot out emails make sure they are extremely concise and to the point. Take care :) Also if you want to share the video please feel free, it makes a HUGE difference.

I am a decent skateboarder and have loved skateboarding my whole life. i personally thought skate 2 in particular was the best skateboarding game ever created. For me, it all comes down to the physics of how the skaters body moves and the board flips. Skate 2 was much more smooth and simplified compared to skate 3 and skate. I truly hope session will restore my faith in skateboarding games as a die hard skateboard fanatic. I don't care about all the unlockables or how big the game is. Get the physics of a kickflip right. Get the ollie mechanics perfected. These are things people like me want out of a skateboarding game.

Thank you for this video. I just heard of this game. Looking into other videos is just gameplay. Being a hardcore fan of the skafe series i was very unimpressed. Did not like thinking this is going to be the next skateboarding game. After hearing their stories and how dedicated and understanding they are. Also theirs only two people working on it made me see that this could be great. I actually hope that they get the funds , experience, and the help to put alot more detail into this. I stilk want skate 4 but a realistic sided game would be great. Who knows? They do it right it could be the best!

About the progression of the player, maybe they should play around with mussle memory. When you start, you'll got to do tricks perfectly with the joystick, and as you get the trick down many times, the joystick flick maybe could be less perfect to get the same trick!!!

I hope this game ends up having a good campaign. I love skating games with role play elements, and since there can't be any stat progression in a game based off your own skill, it would be nice to see tangible feedback in other ways, like sponsor relationships growing and career choices opening up kinda thing. Starting from making sketchy youtube videos or something to getting paid to fly out to do international film parts and shit. A long shot, but getting to do literally any sort of customization with your pro model sponsor merch would be great. As hokey as the customization was, I loved the moment in T.H.U.G. when you found out you were getting your own deck, and that you actually got to design it yourself. I wanna like, at least pick custom colors and textures on some brand name shoes. Maybe I want weird things though. Also. Hippie jumps and hippie ollies. And plants would be cool. But I know the old school ways don't have much place in today's skateboarding games :c outside of not being popular, it's a little too fast and rough and experimental to accurately simulate.

I would be willing to learn this games controls if their animations weren’t so ugly but right now, not for me
@antoinepetit77216 жыл бұрын
Matt4K yeah, I hope that they will improve them and I am sure that they will
@HyenaFox6 жыл бұрын
They said that animations will unfortunately have to be the very last thing they implement because they don't want to have to rework animations for unimplemented features. Specifically, they used transitioning from walking to getting on your board and vice versa. If they add a transition for that after they add new animations, then they'd have to completely rework and re-record (since they are using motion capture) the entire animation for both getting on and off your board and walking, and record new animations for the transition. They've said they'd rather just add the animations once all features in the game are final. I agree, the animations that are currently in the game are really ugly, but eventually, we'll have normal looking animations. There's also going to be a really cool 2 player filmer mode, where you can actually play as a second skater holding a camera instead of using the game's recording of the footage. That way, you'll be able to get really cool realistic angles.

if this game doesn't have real life skate companies that you can either get sponsored by or unlock their Merch, wheels, decks, trucks, etc then I can't see this game being as popular as the Skate franchise. Ill personally still buy it because I've been playing skate 3 for over 7 years so I'm chomping at the bit for a new skate game of equal or better caliber. But for me the whole way you unlocked decks, real skate company merchandise, trucks, and wheels is really what gave the Skate franchise great replay value that a lot of Tony hawk games didn't have. also I think having real Pros as playable options In game wold be great too.

@GameBrainOfficial7 жыл бұрын
Well here's my advice man, if you really want to speak with them, contact them directly. It will show you are serious about collaborating and doing it through a third party will complicate the process and lessen the chances of actually getting in contact. It's important to understand that most people will just straight up never respond to your first message, and if you really want to reach someone it WILL take multiple attempts. Persistence is key. Maybe try and get a number for one of his record labels and call them up. They will be able to let you know if he is free for a commission job. If he isn't available or interested, then that's your answer. You can never get your heart too set on securing interviews. Hopefully this was useful. Happy to give any other advice if you want it.

Hmmm this kinda changed my opinion on this game. Even tho EA Skate came "closer" to realism than THPS, I definitely don't think chasing realism is the best thing to do. If there is no point system, challenges, funny shit, no game element whatsoever, why should I play this game if I could go skate outside or at a park. Some poor design choices in my opinion.
@jwick7267 жыл бұрын
Realism wasn't why SKATE was a success, it was because of the control complexity, the feeling of control it gave you and the rich world to skate, finding new spots and doing crazy challenges. Clothing and sponsoring was good too

I spent a LOT of hours on skate 2/3, I never looked at the score once. The pleasure is exactly what the dev said : Setting up goals for myself and trying to reach it. Also, a kickflip can be better than a 360 flip depending on the spot/situation and much more, score just create these "Manualing half an hour to not break my combo" type of gaming.

"oh the graphics and physics arent that good!" things that tbh wont have ANY effect on microsoft or any other big coompany taking this game on and soliciting it out for purchase. if a games too hard for you..boo fucking hoo yanno? if the finalized graphics and way the gameplay works isnt "your" style then boo hoo find something else that tickles your fancy. obviously we both know the game will become more polished with animations and physics later on but if some people dont wanna stick around for that then tbh they dont even deserve beta access to ANY game because they cant respect the process...hell they dont deserve a spot in the game industry if thats one of their goals imo.

Session is going to be awful. I love that they’re trying to make a realistic game but that’s all they really have to offer, realism. They don’t have anything special to keep it interesting, you’ll play it for a week maybe before going “oh I’ve pretty much done it all”
@fkDezy7 жыл бұрын
Louis Butson oh god. The game is made made for skaters, not kids that play skate. It’s a simulator...

Louis Butson i guess we'll have to wait and see. The game isnt even in early access yet, yet alone completed. Time will tell.

Louis Butson If you think like this there's no chance you’re a real skater
@jarkokoo7 жыл бұрын
The backer super early version already is showing a lot of potential. Landing tricks, especially rail/lip tricks feels super good. The controls are at first really clumsy, but once you'll get hang of it, it starts to reel you in. I'd say it's going to be one of those games you either absolutely love or pretty much hate. What they need to eventually do is content. Interesting spots and preferably some kind of a campaign or at least a fair amount of missions (film a line or a trick and so on).
@jamieminetto53987 жыл бұрын
Louis Butson you just assumed the game when it hasn’t even reached pre-alpha stage yet... and this game is made for us skateboarders who like the realistic touch to it.
@boardofpawns46276 жыл бұрын
Just fix the pushing to where it doesnt look like he has a stick up his ass as well as 2 pushes should get you goin. Fix the foot going through the board. Other then that im pretty fine with it, although if i heard right there is no multiplayer. Big red flag for me but im sure the game will sell decently enough.
@NatsumiTakanawa6 жыл бұрын
Ahh My Leg! They haven’t worked on animations at all.They just motion capped the tricks for this build. When the development gets more momentum, they’ll finesse the animations together.
@vechirni_anbernic7 жыл бұрын
There is a quite similar inline skating game and what really bothers me in both cases is the ragdoll for bail animations. The ones in PSX tony hawk games felt more fluid and satisfying than this sloppy mess. Great video overall and I wish the dev folks all the best - the world needs another skating game, for sure

Any news for PS4 or Mac??
@ZambieHunter25807 жыл бұрын
they better make it on ps4 or else I will be very disappointed. Imagine giving money to them for the kick starter and the only console you have is a ps4 and they don't bring it out on that. That is what will ruin this very promising game.

@Alex.Francisco7 жыл бұрын
Indeed.
@Andious7 жыл бұрын
The subtitles are insulting?! The dude's spent hours going out of his way for people that may not be able to pick up on some of the words the devs are saying, and you've managed to take offence to that. What a joke.
@MatthewSmith-si8ks7 жыл бұрын
Confirmed triggered. I didn't take offence to it, but as a French Canadian, I would be pretty insulted if someone said they needed to subtitle my voice because of my "thick accent". It was an unnecessary comment.
@Andious7 жыл бұрын
Some people that aren't native English speakers will struggle to understand other non-native English speakers, especially if the interview doesn't have great audio quality.
@MatthewSmith-si8ks7 жыл бұрын
That's all well and good. There's no problem with subtitling it. The poke at their "thick" accents was just unnecessary.

I agree the physics need to be tweaked. Not a fan of the board snapping to rails. With the contrast between smooth mocap flatground tricks and the choppy grinding it doesn't look good and breaks the fluedity. Other than that looks promising. Also chill out you guys for going ham on this dude who has a valid opinion.

Millecent Bystander I've been skating since I was 10 I'm 30 and I still skate and honestly I would rather go out in skate then sit at home and learn these controls why waste my time on something that difficult when I can learn it in real life EA skate have the best skateboarding controls ever I grew up playing Tony Hawk and they were fun during that time but they are not realistic and I could not pick it up today and try to play you said try to be a smarty pants and act like I've never skated good try though
@adamdisalvo92477 жыл бұрын
Zwenk Wiel I completely understand where you're coming from and I do skate so I understand how that is cool to have more board control but the fact that you got to turn with your bumpers is something I do not want to waste time on
@adamdisalvo92477 жыл бұрын
Zwenk Wiel here are my problems with skate games one if EA makes another one it's going to be microtransaction the F out and this one looks right now clunky but it's an alpha and the controls look so frustrating I've watched multiple videos and everybody that plays it hates the controls they get used to it but they still hate it
@screwball9926 жыл бұрын
Millecent Bystander to be honest though it isn't that much more realistic as a Skater, who does a kick flip with there foot just moves left. It's more of a forward left flick and I would say skate is more realistic in that sense.
@Iwekzy7 жыл бұрын
The games seem wonky, i know its early but it will never reach the fluid like motion of the skate series. Seems like a mix between tony hawk ps and skate physics

Tbh game Brain. Tony hawk is the first one who’s make a game a life and when EA is the only first one make it skate 1 skate 2 skate 3 session game It was really wet because the purses style and the person who is popping a skate board when game glitches sometimes and they ruin skateboard and community but is Rosa about breaking the rules spray paint stuff about each other and hella meat The only game went Tony hawk had is underground 2 it cool game you can break rules a lot of shit but session fuck no #skate4
@herbertsumler86545 жыл бұрын

Fruityy_tv It’s not a skateboarding video game it’s a skateboarding simulator. If I wanted to play a simulator I would go outside. The skate franchise was never supposed to be completely fucking realistic, maybe we just want to freeskate without these shit fucking controls.
@antoinepetit77216 жыл бұрын
HUXTABLE ok I get your point, but it's not skate 4 so I don't know why you are complaining... if they want to make a skaboarding simulator they can do it. Also I find that it's more fun to get a trick done (not a fucking triple backflip like in skate) with your buddy filming besides you with his own camera on some real skate spots but yeah the controls are different and it takes adaptation but EA is sleeping so we should consider ourself lucky that a studio hook us up with a sick skateboarding game
@mattsmith4896 жыл бұрын
Fruityy_tv everything in this game would be sick if they had an option to have a control scheme just like Skate. Just my opinion
