I remember a few mods I use to run when playing Jedi academy, one of which was the Red lightsaber mod. I felt like that Luke's Jedi academy would have long since done away with the Doctrine, Dogma, Rules and Traditions of Yoda's Jedi Order from the High Republic, Galactic Republic and later Clone wars era. that characters like Ahsoka Tano would still be around, that different hilts would still exist. Straight, curved, and saber staff.

Back then maybe. But the system with time based parry and counterattack we have nowadays is much more better. And excellent example is Jedi survivor

I tried to engage in lightsaber combat in Outcast but it just wasn't fun and I ended up either avoiding them or trying to use the level geometry to cheese them. Also the free movement while attacking looks weird to me and of all the gameplay footage I found of this game and Jedi Academy it really just looks like a bunch of flailing around.

REALLLY hoping that Wonder Woman game brings uses the Nemesis System and it's also successful and it doesn't kill Monolith.

I knew this dev sounded familar, I saw him or heard him in a Batman Arkham Origins interview almost over a decade ago back when I watched game interviews, it was rather fascinating to me that he used Michael Bay as an inspiration for anything since he was disliked. It is interesting how he worked on Hulk Ultimate Destruction AND one of the better Arkham games.

I have a design philosophy about exploration that gives a value to content based on how many players will see it. Basically you start with 100 points and then you subtract the percentage of players you think will see that one thing. The higher the number you get the more valuable the bit of design is. If 100% of the players see something it is worth nothing, and not something you should spend much time working on.

Imagine being unaware of the Magnum Opus that is Jade Empire. Superior to kotor 1 & 2 in every conceivable way. The best game BioWare has ever and will ever release. These kids need to educate themselves & experience a true work of art by way of video game

To answer your question, I like both. THPS 1+2 is Old Skool arcade fast paced objective based gameplay with a fresh coat of paint, THUG Pro is New Skool and lets you experiment with THUG 2's engine, glitches like air shuffles, acid drops, and getting off your board. One is Classic and the other is Modern, it is like comparing apples to oranges.

I recently replayed Jedi Academy and damn...I found myself laughing while using grip to yeet enemies to death pits. Great vid!

All the way over here in Brazil I found this game in a Blockbuster when I was 9 or 10. We could "test-drive" the game in a fixed station and I was hooked (even though I had nightmares with that american cover lol). To this day one of my favorite games, really a hidden gem. Really curious what the few fans would do to a full decomp of this game!

Playing the middle of earth series was an amazing experience and definitely needs a third game

Imagine this style of game now with AI generated voices and lines depending on actions and what not. This system is such a memorable one and one that shouldn't be shelved.

I think they used inspiration in God of War 2018 to build this semi open world sequences.

why no one had repeated that combat in some Star Wars games ?

21 years later, and Jedi Academy still best lightsaber combat system. So sad. But 25 years later and X-Wing Alliance is still the best SW flight sim, and SW Rebellion still the best Star Wars Strategy game. The passion is just not there anymore.
