The Magnatone sounds great, you can tell that sucker is cranked based off of the low note bloom. I've got a couple vintage Magnatones and they are divine.

When the Phil X Evil Robot was released I jumped on the bandwagon and got one of the first runs. It is based on the original Magnatone Tonemaster 1x12 from the 50's. I never played an original, so I really can't compare the two amps, but I do know it sounds great and get's close as I can to that tone.

Lol, They started that 5 years ago with the Broadkaster /6000 series. I know, cause that's why I decided to finally bite the bullet and buy a White Falcon. I could ACTUALLY justify buying one to play when the 6636tdc came out

One small correction. Gretsch did make a Falcon with a center block some years back. It's called the G6139T-CB.

Awesome! I’m a big fan of all he does. Great guitarist, writer and producer in no particular order. I also require a rig that I can hit different levels with the guitars volume control. I’m gonna have to put the guitar and amp on my list.

One thing I've always wanted someone to ask Fortus: he talks here about shaping his sound around Slash's, so how's his sound evolved to work with all the other players in previous incarnations of GN'R? Slash sounds very different to Robin Finck, who in turn has a very different tone to Buckethead, who sounds different to Bumblefoot, and so on.

Richard is very proud that this guitar's tone goes along with Slash's because Slash a more of a mid sounding player. If that's the case, then how does this guitar sound on the mid range? Is it any good for soloing and lead?

What are the names of the original pickups Richard Fortus used in his gretsch guitars without the center block? He used some type of pickups that aren't PAF, Filtertron or P90's

If Gretch would just sell the pickups and treble bleed circut as a kit by itself so I could switch out the humbuckers in my es335 clone. Or, if Gretch would just offer their other semihollow models with the rf pickups. Semihollows, like Es335s, have had serious tone issues since Gibson first put PAFs in them -- nobody since leo Fender voiced their amps for cleans through an es335. Unless you krank to Clapton cream days volumes on a Marshall, your es335 is going bark its head off with clean tones. (It must be nice to have studied business at Harvard having learned nothing but gimmicks and customer loyalty instead of analytics to study what potential customers really want.)
