When you walk into Eric Singer's Hollywood home, you know right away that he's a watch guy. Immediately you see LeCoultre travel clocks and Heuer race timers on his shelves, Lange and Vacheron catalogs scattered across his tables. You also see gold and platinum records on the wall. This is Talking Watches with KISS drummer Eric Singer.

That pocket watch and the story behind it is a whole Oscar winning movie.

Eric has the right approach to wristwatches. He's not paying big bucks to buy into someone else's legacy. He buys a watch to commemorate an achievement in his life. He doesn't go for rarity, vintage or precious. Just what he thinks is cool. He will make his own legacy and make it vintage through his life for his children.

This is the kind of collector I respect. He understands watches, and is not out to buy status. Well made video. Great series.

Glad to see Ball represented. With American heritage and Swiss watchmaking prowess, Ball is possibly the most underrated watch company out there, especially now that they have released their own in-house movement with an 80 hour power reserve. Great episode!

Classic Pearl drum key on far right hand side at :23 that I gave him (and happy he kept) backstage in Toronto. I had owned the key since 1986 and was happy to pass it on to him as a token of respect and gratitude.

Translation of the text from 3:24: To general-lieutenant J.Vales bestowed by minister of national defence, general of the army Martin Dzur. This particular watch has really some story to tell.

Since starting this series, I've bought John Mayer songs, subscribed to Man of the World, bought Goldberger's watch books and gone to Clippers games. I already was a KISS fan.

Nice to see someone whom I actually met (several times) on TW. I live far up in Northern Norway so it's not a common thing to meet Hollywood rock stars for us, but I was a huge KISS fan as a late teen and would travel to shows and conventions. Eric is a really cool and humble guy. Got a few signatures from him as well...

I speak German, Dutch and English and it is kind of odd to see how focused people are on pronunciation of brands in watches. While they happily butcher the names of every other brand in the world. They go out of their way to squeeze out a very forced "Lange und söhne", then turn around and call their cars a "Mersaydees" and "Volkswagon". Just let it go. It does not matter. It is just a poor attempt at sounding well-traveled and refined. If you have no familiarity with the language just don't.
