For anyone interested in Berberine, it''s useful to know that it seems to be the only known currently accessible somewhat potent oral PCSK9 inhibitor, the inhibition of which is highly desirable for lowering LDL and preventing atherosclerosis. Additionally, it's oral bioavailability is very low (around 0.37% iirc if not combined with bioavailability-enhancing molecules), so it doesn't really get past the liver. Thus, its action is located mostly on the liver (which I find to be good thing, as I'm only looking for pcsk9 inhibiton and the low bioavailability should reduce side effects). Btw, big fan of you Nic! Keep up the good work

So if their waist circumference lowered but not their weight, could it mean that they had more muscle growth?

Taking berberine to clean my veins and arteries. I've lost 70 lbs BUT, it's from changing my diet, not berberine. I cut out processed foods/fast food, sugar/sweets and reduced starches. Mostly eat baked fish (salmon), shrimp or scallops with a vegetable. Eat a bit of chicken, pork and beef occasionally (less than once a week).

Ozempic is of no interest for me, but a comparance between Metformin and Berberine would be. The best would be with groups with only Metform, only Berberine, and one group with both of them. Metformin and Berberine do much the same thing, but with different mechanisms. They might act synergistically! It's also interesting that Berberine is said to reduce some of Metformins side effects, such as intestine gas, and other discomforts. That incdicates combining them might work better than either alone. I guess Berberines weight loss effect is by somewhat redicing diabetes effect on blood sugar, which among other things I think is fattening. Much better to more directly reduce the cause 🙂

The long transit time food in stomach Rarely causes gastroparesis: Gastroparesis is a medical disorder of ineffective neuromuscular contractions of the stomach, resulting in food and liquid remaining in the stomach for a prolonged period of time. Stomach contents thus exit more slowly into the duodenum of the digestive tract, a medical sign called delayed gastric emptying.

As a Naturopath I wouldn't recomend taking berberine without supervision. Its a non selective antimicrobial, long term use can lead to dysbiosis. Makes we wonder if the reduction in waist circumference may be due to killing off microbes responsible for bloating and not actual fat loss. Body composition analysis would be a better way to measure outcomes here.

I might try berberine but im mounjaro and metformin already so i think that's too much. The metformin is not for weight loss or diabetes though. Also, as for 10:40, perhaps that's why my weight loss stalls if im not eating carbs? It's a pattern ive noticed over and over. Everyone kept telling me to do keto to lose weight and manage diabetes but it never worked for weight loss. Especially on the mounjaro, i lose more when i eat healthy carbs.

I understand that placebo,random studies are important. And I am someone who in no way doubts the science. But I've come to the conclusion that these studies don't tell the whole tale. People aren't spending money on these things if they don't find any benefit from it. You can call it the wisdom of crowds if you want but these supplements are not cheap and if they don't produce results for people people will just stop taking them. They're not taking them because they're addicted to them. Whether you want to call it the placebo effect or whatever, sometimes it's making a difference and as sceptical as I am about conclusions that aren't drawn from a scientific method, I've found this to be the case in my own experience. so that's leading me to conclude reluctantly, that randomised, placebo control trials don't tell the whole story. That there might be individual variables that factor into this that our current studies don't take into account and as we further explore individual genetics and understand individual metabolism more we might find that this hypothesis has some merit.

i used to watch their videos. they had said they would share their continuous glucose monitor results, then they shelved the idea. the only possible reason is they are having terrible results. they suggest the best foods to eat for your health however it must not be working so great for them. if they have less than optimal results i can accept that however, not sharing them seems for lack of a better word, shady. if asked about it they simply ignore the question. sad if you ask me.

@DennisForbes6 сағат бұрын
Rapid weight loss always leads to a loss of muscle mass, temporarily at least. When you have a calorie deficit, the body catabolizes both fat and muscle stores in a 3:1 or so ratio, and it's just the nature of the beast. If Berberine avoids this it likely is simply that it leads to less weight loss.
