LOL, I played along with the first Maiden album, the first Metallica album and Ozzy's Live Evil (Sabbath songs) on rotation for the first 2 years of my playing or so. The bloody intro of Phantom was the one part of that album I never quite figured out. I could never find where that first note was, it being a hammer of two notes makes me go "ohhhhhhh!!!!!!" Thank you! Guess I can now check the "completed" box on that album a mere 35ish years later.

Live Evil was Black Sabbath with Dio. Speak of the Devil was Ozzy’s live album.

@@metaldave08096 Meh, THAT. I'll blame it on the devil's lettuce. My dart hit the board at least.

This works not only as a fitting tribute to Pau D'ianno but as its almost Halloween also fits for that too.

That's awesome! Steve Harris is one of my two most favorite bass players (Geezer Buttler is the other). I recommend you cover more Iron Maiden 🙂

Been taking Talking Bass for a year now and I'm currently halfway through the Groove Trainer courses. Honestly these are helping me so much with many aspects of my playing. My technique,my timing and my overall understanding of the instrument have improved so much. Now finding out Mark is a Maiden fan makes it even better as I've been a huge Maiden fan all my life. Steve Harris is the one that really made me want to learn the bass. Great video that I will be practicing over and over until I nail it. Cheers Mark

Could you please, one day, break down Steve's line in Rime of the Ancient Mariner; the bit just before the mid-song break when everything goes quiet. I have never been able to work out what he plays. I play _something_ but I'm sure it's wrong!

I'm still working through your Cyborg Bassist book 1. Great book but it's a lot of work!

I can t play it faster than 130 bpm with two fingers. Is it legal to use three finger picking for this song?

Heavy metal is not may cup of tea but somehow I'd like some of Iron Maiden songs. Steve Harris style was a mystery to me, thanks for some enlightenment ;)
