When I make some bucks I'll definitely head over to your website. Your KZbin videos are awesome I've learnt a lot already. Better than 99% of the other KZbin bass tutors

It sure is a great course! Thank you for your work, Mark. Btw, this étude no. 1 is a fine piece of music. The ninth bar was a real challenge for me.

With reading expertise _ writing proficiency has to be practiced... Learn from what is taught, but putting into physical practice with both eyes&bass _ hands&pencil, it will become achievable - much more quickly !! *Recognition HAS TO become fluid... All the way to the hands Thank You Mark, that was an immense undertaking !

hello mark im an absolute beginner at base and your videos continue to be a great help as i try to wrap my head around technique and theory i think ive come to understand the lay out of the notes on the bass neck and the logic it follows but nobody seems to teach it that way. almost everyone asks to memorise; starting with the natural notes then fill in in the accidentals well i thought id share my understanding of the pattern and get your take on it the notes on the bass neck follow the cycle of fourths; first the natural notes; B E A D G C F followed by their flattened counterparts; Bb Eb Ab Db Gb. the last flattened note is Gb because Cb = B and Fb = E which are already included in the cycle putting it all together ; B E A D G C F Bb Eb Ab Db Gb then the cycle restarts this is easier to demonstrate on a 5 string bass with a low B string the open strings B E A D G the first fret C F Bb Eb Ab the second fret Db Gb B E A the third fret D G C F Bb and so on and so forth for the 4 string bass, we just eliminate the first column corresponding to the B string this becomes open strings E A D G 1st fret F Bb Eb Ab 2nd fret Db Gb E A 3 rd fret G C F Bb remember Db = C#, Gb = F# i find this easier to remember than just trying to memorize the note positions. and with this layout one understands how the octave is always found 2 strings right and 2 frets down as well as the numerous other patterns on the instrument ultimately its by playing regularly that one really cements down the note positions Mark what do y'all advanced players make of this
