You forget that HBO wanted to do more episodes, but Benioff and Weiss wanted out and chose to make season 7 and 8 significantly shorter than HBO offered (and wanted). It seemed like they did the minimum they could under their contracts, but all we know for sure is that HBO wanted them to be full 10 episode seasons and the show to possibly have more seasons, but those two were trying to wrap it up as quick as they could and were actively promoting their intention to do other projects (and talking about how bored they were with GoT, but phrasing it with corpo lingo platitudes).

Because the whole of season 2 was exactly 18pages out of the book and we would of had one scene for each Daemon, Alicent and Rhaenyra because they had less than 3 pages for all 3 of them combined. Plus the GOT book is a story where as HOTD book is told from the perspectives of 2 main different people and bits others aswel, George RR Martin explains this himself and says that HOTD is not accurate they could both have things right, but also could both be wrong on most things. Jesus it's been nearly months since it ended and was still one of the best things on this year at less than 10% of the budget of Rings of power and is still much better than that dog shite was. Yes it's not as good as game of thrones but I very much doubt anything will ever be that good. But if people keep moaning like this they will cancel future projects. Theres plenty of other things to moan about online or TV that are far more expensive and far worse than HOTD season 2. We who know roughly from the books will be well aware that season 2 was always going to be the worst one. Season 3 and 4 will be great and will be the best thing streamed that year in 2026.

But if they just copy the book they would have to do at least three simulatious parallel universes in one show. One for Mushrooms version of events, one for maester Yandal, and one for archmaester Gyldayn. AND all the other historical sources those last two cite which often contradict each other.

Plus season 2 of HOTD was exactly 18 pages out of the book and if they done it by the book Daemon, Rhaenyra and Alicent would of had 1 scene each maximum for the entire season as they had less than a page each roughly for the entire second season. People seem to think that HOTD was written as fact like GOT was meant to be lol.

I dunno guys, at this rate out only hope might be an animated reboot. I liked some of the changes and didn’t mind others because I’m not a book purist, but there were parts of season two that made little to no sense and dialogue that should’ve been kept or enhanced. At this rate we’re only watching it for the dragons and not the plot. If HBO messes up the last two seasons it’ll kill any chance of us ever seeing a show about Aegon’s conquest, or any other of the stories created by Martin. Season one was a welcomed return to Westeros, season two left me feeling both excited but also deeply concerned.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I did hear that HOTD was all written for several seasons because of the disaster of GOT final season 😮 I’m sure we all feel the same way about the ending of that show-10 years! I didn’t want to get invested again, but decided I would with Yellowstone and now they have killed off a main character 😞 I think I’m going to just stick with movies or rewatch Netflix series-Hill House and Bly Manor are both pretty damn good 😊 If anyone knows of something that is good and has a pretty great, understandable ending, please let me know! Apple TV has some good ones-Shrinking-dark comedy and Servant-scary/horror but not gory. I also liked the Witcher series but now that Henry is gone, I’m not looking forward to season 3 at all. Severance on Apple is pretty good too but you’re going to want season 2, don’t know release date yet, thanks 🙏 Oh with this show-I was confused how Rhanerya didn’t know bastards could fly dragons because 2 of her sons fly and their only half Targaryen so I didn’t get her doing all that research in books and looking for distant relatives when she could have asked Princess Rayneyes about it, just sayin I dunno 🤷‍♀️

To be fair it wasn't total garbage. Coulda been better and they ruined a couple things for different reasons. Some of which was HBO screwing them on $ unexpectedly but some decisions and changes were quite frankly awful and baffling. But comparing it to 99% of other TV shows out there in 2023.... I still felt it was worth watching at least.

We always forget the Syrax was the mother to Morghul and another dragon in the pit like she cried with Rhaenyra when her son died we could hear Syrax also cried we always think its because of Rhaenyra but we forget its also because that dragon is also her baby . It makes sense that she drops Joffrey because they are literally killing her babies as shes riding Joffrey to the pit . I think shes in distress too and thats why she drops Joffrey or they could also make it as to her being hit with a scorpion and dropping Joffrey by accident but i always like to believe he was dropped because Syrax was in mourning of her babies being killed .

That’s the problem. The character development is nonexistent. The writers wants too bad to paint Rhaenyra as a “hero”, Alicent as a “villain” and everyone else is just filler. Even with Blood & Cheese, Helaena has said what? A couple dozen words? Jace just mopes, Daemon is off hallucinating and the coolest character of them all, Corlys, is ignored. No matter how crappy the last two season of GoT became, We always had strong dialogue, wit and we really got to know the characters and their motivations. Not just “main characters”, but also the supporters. I feel like the time jump really did a disservice to us invested in these characters as individuals, not just the excitement of seeing the dragons battle.
