The real nub and crux of the problem, is that UK Pensioners wouldn't even need (indeed "shouldn't" even need) these government hand-outs if the pension was realistic in terms of a livable income. It is degrading to keep pensioners at this poverty dependence level, considering that they have paid into the system all their working lives. It takes away their dignity and self esteem. This is a monumental failure by successive Tory and Labour governments, who have mismanaged tax payers money for decades.

@@wristopia4101 I do think people these days are oversensitive and Britain appears to have completely lost its sense of humour. Whether what Greg did was just an attempt at outdated 'banter' or he is a sex-pest, I don't know. I also think there's a lot of jumping on the bandwagon by talentless and irrelevant people trying to justify their media existence proven by the complainants, Ulrika, Lancaster, Crosby et al - not a discernable talent between them. I just think his statement will only add fuel and could have been worded better.

I believe MP's have the choice to designate one of their homes as a primary and one as secondary and one is therefore needed for their role in westminster and as an MP with their constituents. In this case nominating your very large detached out of London mansion as your secondary home and therefore getting the heating bills paid by the tax payer is a distortion of the system and is hypocrisy.
