It's easy to spot the reasons Starmer would take down a picture of Gladstone. 1) Gladstone was one of the great 19th century reformers, reforming Parliament and education to name but two. Starmer evidently believes that anything he might be capable of achieving will be completely outshone by Gladstone 2) Gladstone is not known for being corrupt and taking freebies. 3) This is part of how small-minded Starmer is.
