Diana was young and irresponsible and during the first few years of her marriage the whole “royal” thing went to her head and she basked in the adulation of both the press and the public and Fergie was just a rather blousy good time girl, so I guess it is not surprising that to them the middle aged men who were trying to rein in their antics were boring old farts who were spoiling their fun. Why did the world love the Queen so much? She was kind, loyal, dutiful and dedicated and traditional. In today's world this is lacking, and people appreciated the Queen for all her fine qualities. It's not unusual for people of note that for security, diplomatic and practicality purposes her passport was kept by the team organising all of their travel, visas etc for visits etc. I doubt she was on the internet booking her own tickets and trying to check in online. People didn’t criticize Harry and his wife for putting themselves in the spotlight, drawing attention to themselves or talking “too much” about their royal life. People got upset at them being so angry and vicious toward Harry’s family, such as accusing them of being racist supposedly on one question asked, “I wonder what Archie will look like, what his skin color will be, if he’ll have red hair.” while Harry was sitting with them talking about his baby. Harry apparently didn’t take it as racist or he would’ve said something right then and there. Good grief, you know certainly by the time your 36 years old whether your family is racist or not, particularly considering a number of countries who’ve chosen to be or stay a part of the Commonwealth are primarily black and have black leaders. Has it occurred to anyone that if Harry had to “break it” to his family he was involved with a bi-racial woman, that he would’ve told that or told his wife and she would’ve told? They also told lies and, even if true, why even speak of it on a TV segment, such as one woman made the other woman cry during wedding preparations? All the couple had to do was say they decided to leave because they didn’t want a 100% working royal life and they’d been told they couldn’t do it part-time in England, but in the States they wanted to earn private money. It’s unfortunate that they believed the only way companies would be interested in them was if they created a scandal. Businesses would’ve been interested in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, just as they were. Meghan might’ve had offers from elite beauty products or clothing companies. Each could’ve talked about their experience living a royal life, as long as they didn’t divulge anything that would compromise security, such as the Queen uses a double, that she always uses decoy cars (I’m just making up things for illustration purposes), exactly where the Crown Jewels are kept, etc. People would’ve loved to hear about Harry’s growing up, what they do at Balmoral, all the places he’s been, his mother and her travels, his humanitarian work in Africa, personality traits of different members (“I have an aunt who appears very stern, but she’s really a warm person and very funny.”; “My grandmother really is as kind as she appears, she’s a stickler for details.”), the BRF history, Prince Philip’s family history, his and his wife’s goals, his most embarrassing moment, his funniest moment - my gosh, innumerable things that would’ve had people hanging onto his every word, but in a positive way, made a Netflix docuseries out of it. He could’ve still done his mental health series with Oprah, the Invictus Games. Harry’s memoir didn’t have to have dirt in it in order for the story of the man he’s become to be interesting and people want to buy it. They’ve would’ve thoroughly enjoyed hearing about what it was like having Diana as a mother, how she shaped his life, how his father did, his brother, whomever else, what experiences affected him. There would’ve been nothing wrong with him relating his anger and unhappiness walking behind his mother’s casket, the effect of losing her and the way he did, how his family tried to ease his pain (his father getting counseling for him), if anything else could’ve helped, offer advice to parents if the other parent dies. He could’ve vented his fury at the media that began with him as a child, their intrusiveness, that they make up lies, examples of stories they made up. It’s crossed my mind that, maybe, the couple didn’t realize just how well-liked and regarded they were when they left, that no one held just the fact that they left against them, that people would’ve cheered them on and been interested in their endeavors, regardless of where they lived. If they were advised to make their leaving an ugly, sordid affair, they got very, very bad advice and should never listen to whomever that was, again.

Just a few observations from my point of view (as a Brit by choice)... 1. Catherine is not called 'Kate' by anyone but the media, harking back to the nasty old days when they dubbed her 'Waity Katie', neither is she 'Princess Catherine' - Valentine Low misspoke, if anything Catherine is 'HRH the Princess William' [not Charles, she is not married to the King!) according to strict protocol. Otherwise she is simply HRH The Princess of Wales. 2. Camilla was de facto The Princess of Wales once she was married to the Prince of Wales, even though they more delicately used the title Duchess of Cornwall - now that her husband is King Charles, she is Queen Camilla. I understand that, after 70 years of 'the Queen' being Queen Elizabeth II, it will take some time to adjust to 'the Queen' not being the Monarch of 70 years any more, and that needs some time to get used to. But there is nothing wrong with her being called 'Queen Camilla', or - when referring to Their Majesties - 'the King and Queen'. No confusion then whether in that context, 'Queen' would be referring to his late mother or his Consort. Admittedly the titles and styles within the British Monarchy can be extremely confusing; so many people are now referring to 'Princess Catherine' (she isn't a Princess in her own right because she was not born royal, as opposed to her daughter Princess Charlotte) or 'Catherine, Princess of Wales' (she isn't divorced - the omission of the word 'the' indicates divorced status, e.g. 'Diana, Princess of Wales' was her style after the divorce, when she was no longer 'HRH' either).

If Meghan would speak the truth, people would believe her. HOWEVER in the Oprah interview she misled and simply lied, I believe 17 or more items she brought up were debunked. The Archbishop of Canterbury had to publicly make a statement that the wedding was legally conducted on the date and not three days before. She wanted to come across like an innocent, young woman when we all knew she was married before and had several relationships and that she was turning 40 in that year. Also, things about her past were publicly known and verified by family and friends, and now she rewrites her history to fit her current narrative, for example she grew up poor, was working to get herself through college, had to live on Sizzler's $4.99 salad bar, when in reality her father took her out to a posh restaurant. And Harry couldn't get her help when she had a suicidal episode, because he was ashamed. She got rejected by PR( as in Oprah) and now she is stating Harry referred her to a therapist. If one tells the truth, one doesn't have to change the tale constantly to fit.
