The Sun's Political Editor Harry Cole says Rachel Reeves has "tied herself up in a strait-jacket", as the UK is 'heading for a 1970s-style debt'.
"She's out of options! She will have to take on the Cabinet... dancing together into a ginormous row!"
The Tories called for Rachel Reeves to cancel her visit to China amid bond market turmoil.
Speaking on The Sun newspaper’s Never Mind The Ballots programme, shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: “Bond yields are higher, meaning bond prices are lower than they were at the point that (former Conservative chancellor) Kwasi Kwarteng got sacked two and a half years ago.”
Asked if the Chancellor should be sacked, Mr Philp replied: “She is doing a terrible job. I think the whole Government should be fired frankly including Rachel Reeves because they they have jacked up taxes, they have crush pensioners, they are crushing farmers, they are crushing business with their high taxes.
“And this is the result, because the bond market can see that our economy is being squashed by this Labour Government.”
Asked if Ms Reeves should cancel her plans to visit China, the shadow frontbencher said: “She should be staying in the UK, fixing the mess that her Budget created.”
