“It Was Totally Anti-Women!” Single-Sex Toilets Required In New Public Buildings

New restaurants, offices and shopping centres in England will be required to provide single-sex toilets under changes to the law ministers say will “alleviate safety, privacy and dignity concerns”.
Women and equalities minister Kemi Badenoch said the move will end “the rise of so-called ‘gender-neutral’ mixed sex toilet spaces, which deny privacy and dignity to both men and women”.
The legislation will mean that new non-domestic buildings must install separate toilet facilities for men and women, or, if there is not enough space, self-contained universal toilets, which are a fully-enclosed toilet room containing a sink and hand dryer.

We don't hear of transgender men (biological women) insisting on joining mens' sports and sharing changing rooms, but if so, it's rare compared to the transgender women (biological men) who wish to share womens' spaces. It boils down to them usually being fetishists, simple as that. A fetishist is generally a biological man, or a transgender woman. And this is the basis of all argument which won't be admitted. Too many times, a father has wanted his daughter to go into a ladies' toilet safely only to check quickly and find a man hanging around, claiming to be a woman. Too many videos seem to prove this which have been taken by concerned fathers. If this doesn't change it won't only be transgenders in ladies toilets but also young fathers, biological straight males who just want to keep their daughters, plus wives, sisters, and mothers safe.

Hygiene isn't really part of this discussion: Both men's and women's toilets can be disgusting for different reasons. At where I work work it's more often that we get company-wide emails about the ladies facilities than the men's. Usually down to one or two suspects, I'll add.

​@@banedon8087I'm going to disagree with your point, I've run pubs for years and part of that incudes cleaning the pubs, the gents toilets were always a mess at the end of the day, toilet tissue everywhere, in the urinals, on the floor and they smelt awful, I had to get a plumber out on a regular basis because the tissue would block the pipes in the urinals and they would start to overflow, the female toilets were never a problem ever.

I was genuinely an unquestioning trans ally up until this new, queer theoried, gender ideology influenced trans activism came along. Before, as a lesbian, I never batted an eyelid at trans people in lesbian spaces (mostly trans men, but some trans women). I assumed, or even expected that trans women would use the female toilets etc. I found it bizarre when l heard about all this activism going on in the US, and then it hit the UK. Sadly, it is no longer the case that l am an “ally”. I feel like my empathy and kindness has been abused and manipulated by certain gaslighting lgbt organisations and some very bad actors who ride under the trans “umbrella” and it’s left women and children exposed to danger and irreversible damage. Such spaces still increase the safety risks for women as predatory males can lurk in stalls adjacent to the female. Any “watering down” of the law from the simple standard of single space; also leaves open the current atrocity of men being allowed on women only hospital wards, men being allowed into womens rape shelters, men being housed in women’s prisons etc. Life isn’t fair for everyone. It’s that simple. “SH” happens. But our laws are designed to favor the needs of the majority over the desires or needs of a minority. Valid gender dysphoria occurs in approximately 0.018% of the population. Meanwhile women and girls represent some 60% of the population. Endangering 60% of humanity for the emotional comfort of less than 2 of every 10,000 people is an absurd idea.

Unless there is also the right to eject men from the womens toilets and vice versa this is not such a win. Public buildings staff and businesses need to know when the law is on their side with regards to who they can and cannot refuse entry to the womens or mens facilities. The confusion surrounding this and the GRA needs to be cleared up. Most can be refused access to spaces of the sex they merely “identify” as but some can’t. A bad law always leaves confusion in its wake.

Both disabled men and women will use a toilet marked as such anyway. Those not disabled may feel safer going in it. For one thing disability is not always "visible". Anxiety can be crippling and is bound to increase through this ideology. A person can make their mind up to use a disabled toilet if there is not an obviously physically disabled person waiting or there is no queue. If possible, they can decide to be as quick as they can. In this case there shouldn't be many problems.

gender 'neutral' toilets are so weird. there is no 'gender 'neutral' there is gender / sex inclusive though. We have men, womens and accessible toilets here in Australian shopping centres/malls. never have a seen a toilet for everyone. we also have family toilets for parents with kids that include change tables and so on. In some workplaces they have gender 'inclusive' many women I know won't. use them they go elsewhere if they can in another toilet. But in hospitable they have some gender 'inclusive' because people need carers / support workers if they are disabled etc or frail etc but they also will have male or female and disabled/accessible which always have been gender / sex inclusive as they are single large cubicles. At the movie theatre there is womens, mens, and accessible which is a single large cubicle. there is no need for any man to use the ladies.. .they use the accessible. I never use the gender 'inclusive' toilets at work. I go next door and use the Library toilets they are male / female / accessible.

Why bother with toilets at all? People can go and squat in the bushes or simply pee on the grass. It's natural, organic, compostable, and eco-friendly. Used tampons and pads can be placed in containers and dropped off at the nearest law minister office in the area. Mass deposits can be left on the sidewalk or lawn.

Great that women are given the rights they’ve always had and expect because of their sex. However, making building regulations for new builds. Does not go close enough to fully address the issue. There is no specific law that prohibits me a heterosexual male from going into and using female toilet. The law needs to made similar in its application to the smoking ban in public buildings did effectively. In that the owners of the property in question have a duty to enforce a ban where a sexual reaffirming male/female enters a toilet allocated to either male or female.
