The problem with long range missiles is that you don't know whether the warhead is high explosives or nuclear until it hits the target. They look the same when flying through the air. Imagine Russia launched a SCUD at Britain. It might just be armed with HE. But we wouldn't know that. We would have to assume it was armed with a nuclear warhead and respond instantly with a Trident missile. Or imagine Iran had performed a nuclear test and launched missiles at Israel. The Israelis would have to assume they had nuclear warheads and commit to their own nuclear strike on Iran. The use of long range missiles add a new level uncertainty, triggering an over reaction.

Gawd. Hitchens is stuck in a world 50 years ago looking through rose tinted glasses. I remember that world and we had less time than we do today. For one we had to shop every day and that required a trip into town trawling around separate shops because we didn’t have refrigerators. We had to shovel out ashes and make a fire daily. Washing machines had to be carefully tended and everything had to be cooked in an oven rather than using a microwave.

Russia uses cluster munitions and landmines in Ukraine via its illegal under international law invasion, Ukraine has not signed an agreement to not use them either most probably because it has Russia as a next door neighbour. Russia is doing all the escalating they are possibly drafting in 100,000 North Korean soldiers into Europe, there are 10,000 there at present, it is a big security risk and Russia is the aggressor, not Ukraine, it's just defending it's sovereign territory!?!

I usually agree with Hitchens, but I find his arguments on missiles being fired at Russia hypocritical. Russia uses Chinese and Iranian arms to attack Ukraine continuously. North Korea are providing 50,000 troops,. We do not say China and North Korea and Iran have declared war on Ukraine.

PH never denied that Covid existed; he was rightly up in arms about the overreaction to it. He is in his 70, and being older makes him more susceptible to viruses. He probably made the choice to take the experimental gene therapy because he weighed up the benefits versus the negatives, which in hindsight was duped into taking. I can't speak on behalf of him so I don't know the reasons for his decision.

The only reason Sunday became 'The Lords Day' (the biblical meaning of this is the day Jesus returns) is because the early Church was mostly Jewish and they had Sabbath with their family and community on Saturday so they met fellow Believers on the day after - Sunday, first day of the week to Jews.
