Do you really imagine that all of those 10.5 million are 'golfing in the canaries (sic)'? There are around 2 million millionaires in the UK, do you really think they are all pensioners? Of the 10.5 million, probably 1.5 - 2 million don't really need any help but the rest do. Did you know that a pensioner getting pension credit then qualifies for additional benefits and could be getting up to £20,000 a year when you add them all up? So what about those who get far far less, say £15,000? They have to pay tax of around £500 on that and they are far worse off than someone who never paid into the state pension or paid just a small portion. You think that's ok? Most pensioners who have more than the pension credit cut off amount worked for over 40 years to get their full pension and while they were working, paid the taxes that provided free education, free health care, free public services for younger people.

Others are saying it went as part of their holiday payment. Check it out on the BBC website, along with the comments. This is why the government have means tested the payouts. Let's remember this is the only government handout (call it what you want) that is not means tested and these stories prove that it should be.

Yes it must be discussed. I've read in several places that there are roughly 2.85 multi-millionaires in the UK and that includes many in the two Houses of Parliament as well as many wealthy party donors of all parties. If every one of them donated just £1,000 that would provide £2.85 billion - enough money for WFA for every non millionaire pensioner for over two years - Reeves says she will save £1.4 billion by scrapping it. Mind you Labour would probably find something else to spend it on.

I'm 73 and disabled. Even with pension credits my income is only £218pw. After paying rent and over the counter medicines the nhs won't prescribe I am unable to afford adequate heating or food. Stop MP's Heating Allowance Immediately, also they do not use their 2nd home for the whole of the year anyway. Labour has betrayed this Country all of them except one Labour MP who voted against them.

As an eighty one year old who has a painful condition and who feels the cold, all I can say is, HOW DARE THEY??? I really do feel as if I'm being punished. I am still waiting for Brexit to be honoured! I didn't vote for this lot. This is soooo upsetting!!! I am hearing that some pensioners don't need the allowance, well fair enough that's true BUT I DO NEED IT...sorry about that chaps!!!! HOW DARE THEY treat the likes of me like this??

I notice that people will be fined for wood burning stoves, or fireplaces. I have both and neighbours kindly bring wood for us to burn in the winter. Not allowed, what next?

It's absolutely disgusting that she spent £62/month on heating expenses!! I have to somehow get by on only £11500 state pension + my private pension and it's incredibly tough for me. I worked incredibly hard back in the 70s to buy my own home and this is the thanks I get. All I get is a TV licence, subsidised travel, free healthcare, free prescriptions, discounts to museums, gyms, landmarks. Honestly, I'm so angry. We deserve better!!!!!!
