I think you need to realize that the UK is not just C of E anymore, and in fact there are other faiths in the UK that are practiced more regularly. I hear what you are saying; how devout are you with attendance and donation to the C of E? Again, the stats reflect that fewer and fewer British citizens are actively participating in the state religion. It is logical and reasonable that HM would want to fight to protect people of all beliefs in this society. It is not as it was when his mother assumed the throne, when British Anglicans actually went to church regularly and supported their church financially.

The Prince's Trust now the King's Trust was set up in 1976 by Charles and has helped over 1 million young people in all walks of life to gain confidence and find employment or even as some have done start their own business without making colour or cultural differences a factor.

You may not know anyone who has been helped by the Trust but there were many who have been helped by it at the Coronation. It is now called the King's Trust and is still helping young people in the UK and globally. Why do you make not knowing who donates to this Trust sound so sinister. I honestly wonder why the Royals bother doing things like this when people like you never see the good that has been done.

As a 56year old Uk resident who has NEVER watched the speech live. I thought it was actually good. I’m Catholic and said to my non religious husband….this is quite religious, that will set people off. Then he just pips in, quite rightly, the term all faiths and God. This is a speech that will always please loads and offend loads. Harry and Megs have made a monarchist out of me (more anti getting rid of it as such). I think he’s not well and is trying to enjoy what’s left and being King. For someone whose family has been decimated by cancer I can see why he’d do that. I wish the King would abdicate in favor of his son. If Prince William cannot bring relevance to the Royal family then it is time to disband the institition.

As the royals bring in over a billion pounds in revenue each year through tourism, the already struggling low income British tax payer will be required to make up that defeat by a massive hike in taxes each week. Soon even more people will be homeless and living in poverty. The royals support many charities, encourage wealthy people to offer financial support. William has his Homewards project addressing the plight of the homeless and creating huge housing programs and also creating psychological and psychiatric support and appropriate services through charities to address the causes of homelessness being poverty, drug and alcohol addiction and loss of jobs or low income jobs. He is using his own land at the Duchy of Cornwall to build homes for the homeless in a bid to help people. If the royals were removed do you think the government would use their money to help. I doubt it. The royals provide a huge service if you do the research.

An American here. I thought King Charles speech was a lovely heartfelt tribute to those who are in the “helping” professions. The King strikes me as a deeply emotional man, very kind, vey caring, as well.
