Our prisons are becoming gulags for those who disagree with state. the state is driving farmers out of business. We have never been more reliant on foreign imported food since WW2. We have never seen so much hardship based on ideology. Social mobility has ground to a halt. The birth rate has never been lower, ever. Lives are being sacrificed on the alter of Net zero. Wealth creating industries: Construction, Mining, fishing and agriculture are being shut down. Manufacturing is being out sourced to other counties. work only pays if you have a country to take the wages home to. It's demonic. Everyone equally poor & dependent on the state, that’s socialist utopia. People who wouldn’t dare question the state that provides a home, provides work, provides food & provides healthcare, what would happen if you chose not to conform? If you punitively tax an asset you devalue that asset because no one wants to buy something that has a punitive tax on it. If you devalue assets it then hampers the ability of the state to borrow given they borrow against our savings & assets. When it comes to the land of farmers they likely hope that no private entities will want to buy it so the farm can pay the city, then the state will come in and low ball them with a view to either creating a solar farm, wind farm or build a council estate on it.
@julianlord26972 күн бұрын
Remember Starmer said no tax rises for working families. He could not define a working person except as one that uses the NHS. Now we see him for the incompetent that he is. A lot of parents with kids in independent schools struggle to pay for it, believing they are doing their best for their child. VAT is another 20% that makes it truly unafforadable. Those same parents were paying for state education through taxes. Now they may drop out and send their kids to state schools. As a state school pupil I know there are good and bad things about state schools. Motivated and talented pupils CAN rise to the top, but it is not as well supported.

My Grandson aged 9 is dyslexic and his state school assured his parents he would have one to one teaching hours with a teaching assistant. After finding out there was one TA covering 3 classes and he wasn't receiving any additional help and that the school was receiving an allowance for him they had no option but to send him to a private school. They are by no means rich but they could not stand by and allow their son to slip even further behind. Now the 20% VAT is going to be added they are having to make difficult decisions as to whether they can afford to let him stay at the school.

What if we’re not middle class. Other than the vat on private schools, most of these things are levied on all of us. Can they tell us how much this will cost us. My triple lock on my old rate state pension is worth nothing compared to the prices going up. And families with children how on earth do they cope.

Well if Labour are gaslighting, isn't that illegal and constitutes an abusive relationship with public. Arrests need to be made.

Wish our politicians had the sort of joined up thinking that was demonstrated towards the end of this conversation. The ability to follow through a chain of consequences is one that should be encouraged early in life. Most of what is happening in society is a result of only considering immediate outcomes, not what is then going to happen further down the line. Thank you for that.

You know when a government is doing badly because the taxes go up & up. Labour will carry on regardless of detriment caused to us

The inheritance tax changes are on family businesses, so it is easy to see how this will have negative consequences - cut backs in investments, staff, closures etc. They fail to holistic thinking just purely ideological.

I think the problem is labour’s definition of a working person is either someone who doesn’t work and has no money, someone who has minimal education and works a low paid job, or someone who works in the public sector and has maximum career salary aspirations which are fixed to not be particularly high. They think you’re a millionaire if you grafted through school, college, uni and landed a 60k per year job etc as opposed to tricia who mucked about through school, got half a gcse and some silly certificate and earns 20k a year as a result. Trust me if you’re on 60k a year, paying thousands a month in tax and NI, and earn less take home than two bus drivers who are married on 25k, you don’t consider yourself not a working class person.

Yes but don’t ever aspire to work and ask for a minor top up from the welfare system just while you get back on your feet after becoming a parent as they’re stopping that too. So go all in, don’t work and claim the lot. Absolutely ridiculous!

My daughter once had a friend who was sent to a state school whilst her brother was privately educated. Her father's comment was "she will only get married". I was horrified that anyone of our age group could say that. My daughter could not send two children to private school so they are both going to state school.

The reality is that the more a government raises taxes the more that people seek to mitigate/avoid paying tax. Inflation is more than 2%. Even more if a correct and credible rate of inflation is considered. So to increase net taxation must achive an above inlaftion level of tax increase each year to improve the rnet tax take. Many people may decide that retiring is the answer and cutting out the costs to achieve work. Downscale. Emigrate. The incentive to work is directly related to tax. As you get older it is time that matters most. Many have paid for the home, the car and material goods. Many will not sell homes as the rate of tax is inacceptable. Many will pass on things and set up structures to avoid IHT. It is well known that there comes a point where increasing taxes reduce the overall tax take. When increasing tax people expect to see more for there money. Any policies to achieve net growth and to improve services will take years to deliver In that time inflation and interest rates may go up. Government debt servicing may go up. Whilst inflation continues at more than 2% the bank rate cannot drop. Individual real incomes continue to fall. Consumption falls and the spiral of stagflation and recession continues. Personal growth relies on increased net income and costs remaining below that level. Living standards and servuces reduce. People and government then have to decide to cut there cloth accordingly, cash in assets or borrow more. The UK is heading south!

Many people who can afford to retire but work on, will start to crunch the numbers and not be net tax contributors to the Treasury, will seriously question, why bother working to support migrant freeloaders. It goes against the grain of the British mindset to see taxes going to people who have never contributed a penny into the British system. Why bother working. What’s the point.
