Parish councils were the ultimate devolution for people being part of the system and having an input into policy formation. The devolution Labour are on about is opposite of the devolution we used to have and about control and taking away what little say we have left.

Let’s have true devolution for England via an ENGLISH PARLIAMENT. These mayors will end up being of the Sadiq Khan type IMO. And we haven’t been asked if we even want this type of ‘devolution’ which it the type the EU tried to force on us with their plan for the 12 English Regions. If I remember correctly one in the South was going to consist of part of England combined with part of France!

And the best thing you can do to put a further spanner in the works is to not participate. Have the elections take place, but choose the unwritten option - to reject the very system itself. When people en mass refuse the game, those up top lose their legitimacy.
