As with the Gurkhas these Fiji born soldiers who has laid his life on the line to be member of the UK armed forces and serve our country should have a automatic right to remain and granted citizenship we seem to give more support to people who illegally enter our country and do nothing to integrate or respect our ways and laws only to dictate how we should give them everything without putting anything into the system.

As a serving soldier, I can say that Fijians are some of the nicest yet strongest people on the planet and I'm struggling to comprehend the fact that they aren't allowed to stay on this country despite serving it!!!

Yes.... Fijian soldiers have Served in the SAS like Labalaba who was KIA in the battle for Mirbat and Sekonaia Takavesi who was in the battle for Mirbat and then Freed hostages in Op Nimrod aka the Iranian embassy raid... So yes they've earned it through their dedication and sacrifice and the blood of their brothers. Same goes for the Gurkha's

A part from the NHS bill was their any desire for them to move to the UK? Fiji is a lovely place and I can't see why anyone would want to leave there to move to the UK. Paying for his NHS care would make no difference in the grand scheme of things as the NHS is already the worlds free healthcare service, what would another £50k on the debt pile mean to anyone.

Of course they should become British citizens. I transferred to from the British Army to the Australian some years ago. The Australian government paid for everything and made me a citizen after 90 days service. FFS UK; do the right and decent thing.

I think any one who fights on behalf of the U.K. should have leave to remain. Makes no sense to me that Muslims from the Pakistani community and others who fight against us in support of Islam and a caliphate conversely are given right of abode privileges. Our priorities are back to front..

12 years service or half pension should be garenteed citizenship full uk passport drivers licence and a full welcome to the uk. I dont think its the right move to give full citizenship after early contract termination IE 3 years service 1 years notice out by the 4 year mark. Half pension = full citizenship within that. Im sure the gurkas have a similar arrangement

Well yeah he is a soldier of the British Army he risked his live to fight for the UK. He more than proved he deserved citizenship more than a lot of native born brits actually, at least he had the balls to sign up and risk his life for the UK. And well he earned his place more so than illegal immigrants. Their is the moral reason of that you can't ask someone fight and possibly die for you and the country and then not let them live in a country they fought for.

I feel that after 4 years service a percentage should be take off the cost, unless they complete a full 22/24 year career in or medically discharged where they should be give a free or substantially low fee (admin cost) for naturalisation. ( Unless they commit very serious crime or become a treat to national security).
