If you take the personal bias against Gabby away, you'll find he's not lying, and many people agree with Gabby that football has become boring nowadays because teams are more focused on passing and tactics! We don't see players like Kaka, Zidane, Del Piero, or Ronaldinho anymore! Those magical players who had the freedom to roam and play make. Footballs become dead as a spectacle! Nobody whips in crosses for a superb header, it's all pass pass pass until the opposition opens up! The euros were kinda boring because of it, compare the Euros to AFCOM and the goals scored. There is no comparison!

The "playmaker" has become non-existent because teams prefer to play like Pep, which doesn't allow for a player to express themselves and take on a man! Go watch ballers on KZbin like Recoba, Zidane, Bergkamp, Kaka, Del Piero, Robben, and compare them to today's footballers. There's an interview with Michael Own, who says the same thing. Today's footballers are just athletes compared to the balls of years gone by, football isn't as entertaining anymore.

It’s not a particularly strong era in football at the moment. It’s not as if there’s a Wenger or Jose Mourinho to come along and challenge them. The competition in the last six years has been a team that hadn’t won the league in 30 years and a team that hasn’t won the league in 20 years.

Prime Pep (2017-2020) played the most entertaining football in the world. Other clubs wanted to play entertaining football too, they do not want to play boring football. Pep’s tactics is also the most complex and with the most details in football history. For other teams to improve, they need to increase their tactical complexity. You won’t get fans or get respect from anyone by playing boring football. And you can’t be the best with simple tactics. That’s why teams wanted to become more similar to Pep’s teams, because learning from the best is the only way you can get better.

Pep would build a team of robots around someone like Messi, Zidane or Ronaldo who would do their own thing regardless who the manager is. Foden and De Byrne are a few levels below those world class players and just about are made to be robotic in a robotic system. Put them both in their national teams and out of the pep system and they are both redundant on the scrap heap to used as spare parts. The true world class players play the same way in any system being formed around them. Think of a Pep system as bicycle stabilisers for average to very good players to excel in.

Modern football, Pep style (and internationally now), is boring to watch, because of the lack of freedom for talented players. Go back and watch some old matches and players have you up, out of your seat with excitement. Not so much anymore. I don't want to watch an algorithm, I want to marvel at players playing the beautiful game. Contrary to modern belief, winning is not, in fact, everything.

You're better off finding a new hobby mate, there's no sense wasting your time watching something that you have little to no grasp of. Only a complete football illiterate watched Spain take apart team after team with incisive play and textbook passing moves, and draw the conclusion you did. The Copa is a sh1tshow organized by corrupt CONMEBOL execs. It was lacking in quality both on and off the pitch, completely different story to the EUros. @@wasimdbala349played football all my life. I actually coach youth 12 kids. Kids are losing interest because ticky tacky football is all about systems and robotic players. The player with flare is not required in ticky tacky system. modern football requires robotic players with endless energy to press the opponent. The modern game is not beauty on the eyes today as compared to football in the 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s. It’s rubbish mate. The Euro was boring. England was boring. Germany was boring. Italy was trash. France was garbage. Spain was ok, nothing special. You couldn’t compare this Spain team to any Brazil, France, Germany, Argentina team from the 1980’s, 1990’s and 2000’s. I am seeing things way ahead of time. I seeing things that you can’t even see and that’s the problem. I am a die hard football fan and that’s why I watch and is invested but how the heck the modern style of play is going to attract kids and new fans. Passing the ball in your own half for 5-10 minutes is not attractive. It’s boring no matter how you slice it. Tweaks needs to be made to the game.

Did you see the Spanish dominating football for as long as they have ahead of time too? Did you see there being no answer to pass and move football ahead of time. City created the most chances of any EPL team last season, I'm trying to figure out how they did that by passing the ball in their own half for a good 10 minutes. Can you drop which club you coach so I can avoid it and prevent other kids from going there at all costs? You're completely lost about what's even happening in the game you're so dedicated to. Do you understand what a low block is? You think teams just wake up and decide to pass the ball back and forth. Mate, you're completely lost, I'm sorry to say

He’s not wrong. Pre-Pep was far more entertaining. Obviously he’s very effective but there aren’t too many City matches where you go “wow that was fun”. And the ones that are are usually when City play badly. It’s made worse though by a lot of other managers just copying him. It’s dull.
