Think it has to do with Klopp leaving there is the unknown if how the new manager would work with the players - extremely well so far. Plus VVD and Salah were not up to their standards last year and hitting the 32-33 year age. What has been impressive is how they have got back to their best. Their early run of games where they played the lower teams allowed them to learn how to play together. And they have done just that. Next week will tell us more. Will they beat Arsenal? Without Saliba Odegaard and maybe Saka they probably should
@goldsphinix3 күн бұрын
because that has usually been the case when a larger than life manager who transforms a club departs and an outside replacement comes in. you are taking the hindsight/revisionist history approach. there was every chance that klopp leaving would have created a real problem for Slot, especially if he came in and tried to change too much too soon. fortunately Liverpool is a well run club and Slot understood he didn't need to make immediate wholesale changes. but look at when Wegner, Beniez, and Fergie left Arsenal, Liverpool, and United respectively. Fergie won the PL ffs, and they fell right off a cliff after he departed. so yes we are delighted that Slot appears to have managed the post-Klopp transition remarkably, but it should not be understated how impressive that was.

The Arsenal game next week is going to be very interesting - Arsenal just played one of their worst games in a long time against Bournemouth losing 2-0 so they'll be desperate to bounce back from that defeat - Liverpool will be feeling confident after a great 2-1 win over Chelsea - It promises to be a cracker of a game at the Arsenal.

as much as Simon Jordan can be a bit much, he's honest and doesn't try and change history to make himself look better or change history to suit whatever point he wants to make. Martin Keown just took an extreme revisionist approach to Liverpool's history so he could make some silly point about Slot v Klopp. Klopp announced he was leaving and the initial response from Liverpool was good, very good actually. but then, like so many other recent years, the injury bug hit liverpool hard and they fell away. Klopp made his decision public in January and Liverpool were still in the title race (and top of the league) until early April. late March/early April is when the wheels came off and LFC fell away and got knocked out of the remaining cups. those are the facts. Martin just made up a history to suit some pre-planned message he wanted to deliver, and that is the definition of lazy punditry and it's an embarrassment.
@davecrawley46343 күн бұрын

At the beginning of the season almost everyone of you didn’t see this good group but that Slot was going to struggle, no #6 and new signings; Klopp will be hard to replace as in the cases of Sir Alex, and Arsene Wenger. After Slot’s impressive performance when even City is struggling to get past teams; not many of you are humbled enough to admit. It’s now turned to Slot walking into a good dressing room. Good though but not good enough to challenge for the title according to the pundits when the season began.

@@davecrawley4634 Trent was always at his most useful and provided the most assists while playing down the flank. Southgate poisoned his mind and convinced him that he could play as a midfielder, and Trent also felt that was how he could fit into the England team since Southgate didn’t rate him as a right-back. If you look at our biggest weakness, it was the HUGE hole in the right-back position when Trent vacated it and went roaming up the pitch. This left Konaté and Endo having to cover a vast amount of space, and every team targeted that gap. Most of the goals we conceded came from that part of the pitch. This also made many believe we needed a "PROPER DM," which isn't true, as Fabinho never played with Trent drifting into the middle and high up the pitch. He would have struggled just as much as Endo or anyone else with that much space to cover. So whether you blame Klopp for his tactics (which I’m not), or whether it’s Trent's lack of discipline and Southgate’s brainwashing (which is more what I’m hinting at), the fact remains that under Slot, we no longer have that weakness. This is one of the main reasons our defense has been so solid.

Everyone should be scared of this LP side, not necessarily because they will win the league, I’m not convinced anyone but City has a real chance while Pep is there, but rather because this LP side can beat anyone and that might be the difference between winning the league/getting top 4 …. It was better when nobody expected us to win anything. That's kind of changing now and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with that just yet. Sometimes you can play better out of the limelight. I actually don't think we've really started to play well this season. Defence and midfield are fine, but our attack has flattered to deceive so far. We need to improve our decision making, execution and accuracy in our attack. When that starts to click then we can have a conversation about vying for titles and trophies, until then it's better if everyone keeps talking about City and Arsenal.

What Liverpool have lost in excitement they have gained in efficiency this will mean less injuries and less fatigue especially in the back stretch of the campaign. I loved klopp but wouldn’t take him back now he was the perfect manager at the time but now slot is the perfect manager for this time 👍👍👍👍👍👍

We didn't fall off last season due to fatigue, that's lazy analysis by the media. Half the team got injured and they were too rusty when they came back. That's why we fell off. You don't get "fatigued" while injured, if anything, you get a lot of rest. If we keep our players fit, we could walk this league. Our players are as good any in this league.

Slot just speaks so well, the complete opposite to Ten Hag in my opinion who seems to just spout utter gibberish

If he managed top 4 this season I would have been happy. But not letting him get any players on the summer will comeback and haunt us later this season. If he would have gotten 1-2 new players to broaden the squad it would have been better. Imagine not going all the way because some cheap asses at the club didn’t want to spend 80-100M. We’ve sadly seen this so many times during the last couple of years from the owners.

That forest defeat felt like a complete anomaly tbh, slot was just as confused as the fanbase, its the premier league freak results happen but i expect liverpool to be top 3 again 1000%. Where in that top 3 they land depends on injuries, if they stay fit mostly i think they push city all the way

People now talk about Klopp as if he has won multiple Champions League and League titles! No, he has won only one each and of course Liverpool can still improve. Klopp is a great great manager definitely but Slot can still do better, right? It’s a new era, don’t keep saying Klopp Klopp Klopp….. which is very unfair to the current manager. Please look back at those critic’s comments before the start of this season to see how they think Liverpool would be way behind the top two teams and may have problem to stay at top 4 after Klopp goes.

Every Klopp second place finish would've beaten EVERY Fergie United PL title except one. He look a 7th place Liverpool squad and to win the CL in 3 years and the the PL the year after. He spent the last 2 seasons building Liverpool 2.0 to this refreshed and rejuvenated squad. Slot is doing things his way and passing with flying colors but even he said he didn't need to bring anyone new in because Klopp left him with a great squad. Learn context before you speak.

if my beloved reds play against arsenal and manchester city the way they did against chelsea, those matches will be over by half-time, and city and the gunners will bring on their reserves to coast to three points. yesterday, slot acknowledged that the reds were badly outplayed by chelsea.

Arne slot is a brilliant manager and he said he inherited a good squad jurgen klop left and he only needs to apply his own ideas and tactics as a new liverpool manage. Liverpool will win this league trust me under this man slot. Arne slot is calm and compose a genius and nevef change anything in the liverpool squad when he came. He only sign chiesa and a goal keeper marsdaveille. Liverpool will beat arsenal trust on sunday with a high press of attack which will destroy arsenal defense. Arsenal will suffer with thd absent of saliba trust me. Sallah is on and will cause damages to arsenal defence likewise luis diaz. When liverpool beat arsenal you will all understand what i mean by liverpool are title favourite. Credit to slot, sallah and vandikh.

Liverpool haven’t got the squad to challenge on all fronts Alison jota Chiesa all injury prone Nunez can’t hit the back of the net Center of Midfield without McAllister is average Robbo on his last legs Tsimikas isn’t good enough to replace him when robbo is out Still get top 4 but will fall short of a title challenge
