Celtic are the only side in the playoff who come from a nation of a population as low as Scotland's. The closest others being Belgium and Portugal who have double the population. They cannot pay the wages that teams in England, Spain, Italy, Germany or France can (for their top sides at least) as they have a wage structure and actually abide by FFP. Modern football is uneven because of money. It is not the level playing field it was decades ago. No side from outside 5 leagues will ever win the CL again. I'd say to make the top 24 and finish above Manchester City with all their resources is pretty good going despite the quality of the league they play in. If the Scottish league got the TV money the EPL does they would be able to afford better players and the standard would improve. The systems going against them are gargantuan. Portugal, Holland, Denmark, Belgium all get better TV deals than Celtic who get a paltry £3M for winning their league. I'd say they did well under the circumstances. You can talk about who they played but I would not say playing the CL finalists, Europa League Winners (and getting a draw in Italy), 2 top 5 Bundesliga sides and a Top 4 EPL side are easy matches. They beat the Champions of Slovakia and Switzerland, drew with the Belgian and Croatian Champions - all nations with better National teams than Scotland as well. If it were purely Champions only as it really should be, they would be doing pretty well overall. It's very easy to sneer when you are backed up by a system designed to keep the money at the top. They won't win it again as they did in 1967 but they deserve their place in the playoff because they got the points. If they had not qualified, they would have been lambasted for that as well. They cannot win.

Firstly there are Celtic and Rangers supporter's clubs all around the world in several countries who watch every week through the Scottish and Irish Diaspora and Scotland is among the best-supported leagues in Europe per head of population. For the size of country it is, Scotland has large stadia which are filled with between 50 and 60 thousand people per week watching two teams and three more get between 12 and 20 thousand when they are at home. You personally may not watch it but I doubt you watch much football outside of what goes on in England despite the access to other leagues being on TV. You might watch a Classico or Milan derby now and then but not sure many people watch football outside their domestic leagues other than European matches involving their teams/club as a lot of it is on TV at the same time. So sorry, "literally no one" is grandstanding drivel.

In the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's they often had sub 20k average attendances. Clubs like United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs & Everton always had bigger crowds than them throughout most of these years.

Now days you do get good crowds but it was not always the case. Many other English clubs would get bigger attendances if their capacity allowed it. And you'll never play in the Premier league because you aren't English and whenever you play one of our sides your fans disgrace themselves with their behaviour.
