Don’t have an issue with Bashir because all the other spinners they have aren’t any good anyway, apparently. But I scratch my head at the logic of his average doesn’t matter. He’s tall, yes. But the idea surely is that that is an attribute that they believe will lead to him being a good bowler, ie having a good average? But I don’t worry too much about that simply because there’s no other spinner demanding selection. The logic in terms of Crawley is irritating though. My question there is what if he does have a decent ashes? Does that get him another four years of being selected while not performing and averaging in the 20’s? In the hope he might have another decent ashes in Australia after that?

Hartley must be scratching his head. What happened to Pennington, picked for Trent Bridge, didn't play, then what?

If you want an attacking spinner and aren’t too worried about economy why isn’t Rehan Ahmed getting a good run? He isn’t going to be another Shane but a decent leg spinner is such a unique option to have. Bashir looks a nice guy but don’t see that he has anything special going for him.
