How does the 2 inch of water under the insert water the plant? that's what I am looking for and Veradek don't have it on their site. I want to know how the self watering works.

The LEGS of the platform are wide and hollow with holes on the sides of the legs. Water sits in the legs and thru capillary action gets into the soil

@@sandystp9624 given these are self watering this way, how do we know when one needs to water again? I saw some other videos from this company that have water indicators but I don't see them for this model. Thanks.

They are advertised as "self-watering" but I don't really understand how the self-watering works

At the bottom of the planter is a platform above a reservoir for water. The platform is what the soil and plant sits on. At the bottom of the platform there are legs that the platform stands on and these legs are hollow and fill up with soil. The legs are hollow, fill with soil and the water from the reservoir enters the legs and is drawn up into the soil in the planter above the platform.

@@sandystp9624 Thanks Sandy! That's what I figured, but what got me confused was, how to fill the water reservoir? There is no hole to put the water in once you fill the planter with soil. I guess by watering the plants until water comes out of the bottom, which will mean that the reservoir is full.
