The best place on the ECML to trainspot is Hadley Wood. Unfortunately, the speed limit is 115mph, but on the bright side, you’ll get mega horns!

I suppose one learns patience if this or similar level crossings are part of the daily routine. Regular users probably have the train schedules memorized to avoid them. A 2.5 minute wait for a fast-moving train seems quite long, certainly a very generous margin of safety.

Bob Rogers the reason for the long wait is that this crossing is operated by another signal box just north of this crossing
