Does the "0" fret make any difference in tone when the Capo is used? Just curious...never played one :-)

A very beautiful composition, played by one of my favorite guitaplayers! Love this one and the sound of the Loef guitar. But most of all I love your dynamics and phrasings and how you put all emotions into the melody! Great job, my friend!

Hi Martin -- always such a pleasure to get a notification that you've posted something new! The feeling you communicate through this piece, and all of your music, is inspiring. The guitar sounds great in your hands. I'm curious about fanfret necks, do you find it to be an adjustment? All the best, TD
@tallstrom10 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, not much of an adjustment, you would think one would feel the angled frets, but it feels like a standard neck. The only thing I could feel that was a bit trickier than usual, is to fret the low F with the left thumb on the 6th string, like you sometimes would on an F chord. But, like with everything really, it just takes some practice to get used to. I like it! Unfortunately , it ain´t mine ;)

Martin, Bach 156, certain moments in Flower, maybe dissonance, melody or rhythm somehow strangely remind me of my favorite piece; Bach 156. Would very much like to hear your interpretation of it!

Any reason for moving the capo from third fret as the original version is, to second fret?
@tallstrom6 жыл бұрын
No, probably ignorance on my part :)

That's a good one! Come on! At the guitar you have none of this....
@MikaelWittlock10 жыл бұрын
What does "multiscale" mean? Btw, Awesome playin' as usual!
@tallstrom10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Multiscale means there is not just one scale length on the neck (for example 650mm). Instead it has different scale lengths for every string, you can see how the bridge, frets and nut are "angled". This particular guitar has scale lengths between 635 (1st string) and 660mm (6th string) I´m no expert :) so I hope that was a correct explanation... Cheers

What do you use to record? Your stuff doing professionally done. Aside from the playing you're audio output is unreal, love it man.
@tallstrom10 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Here´s a copy of a precious reply I did on the same topic :) "Ok, mic is a Rode NT2-A condenser type. Preamp is just a small Behringer mixer to provide the 48V. I have a Roland (Cakewalk) USB sound card, nothing fancy :) I record to Cakewalk Sonar. I set the recording level so that I´m sure there is no clipping of the signal. I often later add a bit of compression, this also allows me to raise the overall level. What I typically do (with the mixed down track) is to "normalize" the whole track to 0db, which raises the volume so that the peak sample reaches 0db."

Martin, I've always loved your playing since years ago when I first heared it. It's so beautifully gentle and dynamic. But, also your recording quality and great mixes are part of your wonderful sound. Could you tell me what microphone, preamp and recording device you use? I have a fairly decent condenser microphone, and about an 100 dollar USB interface/preamp with 48v powering. Problem is, I have noise on my recordings. Do you think it might have something to do with recording with the computer? I'm also having trouble getting the volume loud enough, without destorting it. Any tips and info is much appreciated! Keep on uploading stuff please!

Thank you so much! Ok, mic is a Rode NT2-A condenser type. What I typically do (with the mixed down track) is to "normalize" the whole track to 0db, which raises the volume so that the peak sample reaches 0db. To add even more volume you can first compress the signal even more, this is what is, for example, done when mastering a track. You know, everyone wants their song to be the loudest on radio :) I can´t tell where your noise comes from... Perhaps you can change one thing at a time in your signal chain to see if you can find the culprit. Good luck //Martin
@baksteen12310 жыл бұрын
Martin Tallstrom Dear Martin, I've tried all your tips, my volume is a bit louder now, but I still can't get it anywhere near yours. I want to thank you anyway!! How do you still keep so much dynamics when adding compression? Just add a tiny bit?
