I’m celebrating the new decade by playing “Fate of the Stars”, the last song Tally Hall ever made, on New Year’s Eve at around midnight. I’ll plan it so the end of the song is at exactly 12am, then immediately switch over to “Good Day”. Fate of the Stars will be the last song of the decade, Good Day will be the first song of a new one. edit: guys its been 3 years you can stop nitpicking the technicalities of whether or not fate of the stars is actually their last song now

Not So Fun Fact That You Probably Already Knew: During the filming of this music video, they went to Rotary Park where they got mugged and had some of their equipment stolen. Joe Hawley (Red Tie) ended up bleeding from the mouth, and Zubin Sedghi (Blue Tie) ended up with a black eye. Joe Hawley would then make a song seven years later about the incident titled "Rotary Park" and even tried to sell the bloodied-up shirt and tie he wore when the incident occurred.

Having heard this song plenty of times but never seeing the music video, I have to say I am thoroughly impressed for a lot of reasons, but I want to focus on what hit me the hardest: It's a perfect nostalgic time capsule of what neighborhoods inside the USA actually looked like in the 2000s; All the different CRT TVs and digital devices the stills cut to; the home video footage of everyday activities; the vibrant COLORS; but also around the 1:22 mark it also has a montage of what the average home would have playing on TV at the time; satirizing Pro Wrestling, workout videos, reruns of Bob Ross, black-and-white Movies, reruns of tv shows from the 50s through the 80s, Infomercials, Cooking shows; etc and so forth. This is video isn't just art, it's window into the past of when it was made.

Can I just say that this band has literally gave me a reason to live? They make me so extremely happy inside, and inspire me to do something with my life. If they decide that they aren't gonna come back, then I respect their option. They've given their fair share of music. I really love these boys, even if I am late to the party, I still consider them my favorite band. Lets be glad the fandom is small and loving, honestly I don't know what I'd do with myself if they were mainstream.

Googled Lyrics: I'd like to say hello and welcome you Good day that is my name Come here and sit down I'm so glad you even really truly came We can even go and take a walk or something like that or something like that But first I need to introduce my what and introduce my when Let us sing! (Ahh, ahh ahh) Its name I like to call it likes to say it's nothing (it's nothing) It lives and breathes and it insists that it insists that it is something (it's something) It never liked to speak or run or walk or sleep or eat (oh-ee oh-ee oh) It even thought that everybody tried to thought to take its seat Looking through glass eyes Give it a few tries Nothing goes right in its time Kill all its bad dreams Wonder 'bout no things Circles and spirals in mind But we know that this song is not about a no or yes or why What's really truly what I say is that about a little sigh So come along I think I'm done I think we're done yes this is done What's truly that I think about it and it thinks about a ton Let us sing! (Ahh, ahh ahh) Looking through glass eyes Giving a few tries Nothing goes right in its time Kill all its bad dreams Wonder 'bout no things Circles and spirals in mind I thought you knew I knew but Why and by and why and by and by I wanted you to know I thought you knew but Why and by and why (Everyone loves a potato monkey... I stepped in gum! I stepped in gum! Ohoho! -- -- -- If you have two scissors and a computer, then you can...) Let us sing! This is their greatest song and an absolute masterpiece of whatever you call this genre. It is so difficult to make a piece like this where each is so unique and yet every part is catchy. It is sophistication and catchiness all in one. It is a unicorn of a song. It captures the emotion and the fun alike of youth. It is nostalgic and upbeat at the same time. This whole album was absolute perfection. 10/10. May be my favorite album of all time and this is the greatest song on the album. May posterity put laurel upon laurel on this band's reputation.

"Looking through glass eyes, give it a few tries! Nothing goes right in its time." From that, along with the video's aesthetic, I'd say they're implying the timeless nature of the television, and how it gives you such interesting views of life. By peering through the glass of the screen, you're seeing the world in new ways, through different people and eras... it's a cool message.
One of my favorite parts of Tally Hall is how timeless their music is. Everyone becomes a fan of Tally Hall at a different time and they still love them all the same, and I think that’s incredible.
