Thank you Mud Puppy for being straight forward, honest and knowledgeable in your video. Much appreciated for sharing your time to make this! Never too much Honda. Long time subscriber here. Quick question, hopefully I didn't miss a previous video covering it. Have you had any issues with leaking axels (front left, rear right)? I've been hearing things related to plugged up or obstructed breather tubes.

I have not but all of my breather tubes have been relocated so that might be the reason why

@@MudPuppyOffroad I did watch a couple videos where you discussed and shared relocating of your breather tubes and packing of dielectric grease in electric connections. I'm only finding oil seeping out (very minimal) after longer runs at higher speeds which makes me think there's pressure building in the diffs. My new KRX 1000 had a misadjusted shifter cable and was coming out of gear in high range on hard decel. Not sure if I damaged the shift fork or not. Only 200 miles and it has popped out of gear half a dozen times until I figured out the cable wasnt fully adjusted to FULLY engage High. So Kawi has an issue too!

This may be a dumb question (as I’m no mechanic), but when in low gear, my engine rattles pretty loud. It’s only when pressing the throttle. For example when in low gear, 4500-5000rpm, 25mph it’s has an annoyingly loud rattle (which I assume is valve chatter) Also it seems to be more pronounced after I get into it a little bit. After that, it rattles at all speeds and rpm ranges and like I sound it’s very noticeable/loud. In high gear it’s almost nonexistent and I don’t notice it at all. Is it valves or lifters?? Side note: I do not abuse my machine. I only use it to ride around my hunting club at slower speeds etc. (

People often bend the shift forks by slamming or forcing the shift lever to attempt to get the thing into Low Range. The lever is not a sledge hammer or a pry bar. Fineness is the key here. The weak link is the Low/Reverse shift fork, the forks can easily be bent by using excessive force on the shift lever. There is also a shift lever cable adjustment that must be correct as well. I have a Pioneer that I bought for a song which had both shift forks bent due to this problem. I wonder why HONDA did not install boots over the front driveshaft u joints, as they did with the PIONEER? Perhaps not enough room?

I have a 2021 Talon. I have 27 miles on the unit which just spent 4 weeks in service to replace a solenoid in the front causing the I4 indicator to come on. We literally drove it for 2.5 hours and its been in the shop ever since. I finally picked it up Tuesday and now the AT/MT indicators are both lit and I can't turn one or both off with the toggle switch? Any ideas? Does the lemon law count for these types of things? I think I have a lemon......

I would also try to find a better dealer
@bdrew3483 жыл бұрын
The repair that was just done was actually at a different dealer, the one I bought it from couldn't find the problem even though it came up on the diagnostic. The dealer that fixed it worked directly with Honda because the solenoid was a part that was not easy to get apparently. What do you mean the "hess I-4wd drive bypass". are you suggesting it be bypassed as a fix? If there is something wrong shouldn't it be fixed and not ignored? Any idea why the AT/MT indicators are both lit up at the same time? Its like the machine isn't transferring from one to the other fully. I am taking it back when they open, I'll let you all know what happened. By the way, there is a lemon law for ATV, Motorcycle, UTV, and snowmobiles. It is a federal lemon law not state driven so I contacted the appropriate lawyer who handles that. If this thing isn't fixed this time I am pursuing a replacement vehicle or go with a different manufacturer. I also have a 2021 RZR XP Turbo and it has been flawless. Very disappointed with Honda.

I know this is like 3years old, but having had a KRX, they are the best at crawling, here in eastern TN where there's a lot of slow hill climbing they are simply the best. True billygoats. The only SXS you can put 35s on with out mods outside of clutch weights maybe. The group I ride with consists of 3 KRXs on 35s, they walk up every thing. The 2 RZRs and my Talon in the group struggle a little more, We're all on 32 or smaller, lighter, and not geared as low as the KRXs. But I wouldn't have it any other way, I enjoy grabbing gears and being able to nail it when I want to. The Talon is the better overall machine, more fun in more situations, but if all you're doing is crawling then the KRX is the superior machine. Also I've never seen any of the guys I ride with break a belt, but the all keep one on hand and they are simple enough to replace on the spot if you did break one.

I was between talon1000r or an x3dsRR,ended with the RR cause i need the power ,locker,and better suspension geometry.but Japanese vehicle are way superior and reliable than domestics.one thing to clarify about power efficiency of belt vs transmissions,,on the dyno and there is a ton of videos, have been proven that the belt driven is the vehicle with less hp losses to the wheel compared to talon and yfz.the belt is their tranny and most them can be changed in less than 15 min.i cant say the same when electronic gremlins start in a couple more years or the dual clutch get burned in the trail ,there is no way to fix it there.dont get me wrong,i love the paddle shift and feel and hate the cvt constant high rpm noise and servicing every now and then, but sometimes simple is safer to survive out there.and yes i ride with a friend with a talon and have pull him many times with a belt vehicle with 900 miles on it ,my buddy was surprised cause have yhe mindset that the belt is a handicapped vehicle,😂😂you can if you know how to do it.

Sorry, but you have oversimplified this issue. Honda should be covering every low range gear grinding issue. Mine did it from day one. The dealer says honda won't cover it, so I don't use low range. It isn't a shifter adjustment issue. It isn't a "shift it in and out of low range several times " issue. I have the repair manual. It has a shift drum in the sub trans just like the main trans. The detent doesn't provide enough spring force to firmly engage the low gears and hold them there. The engagement depth is also an issue, as is the number of dogs on the low range gear faces. It's just poorly designed. From the beginning.
