I feel like the people who complained about Wheeljack in ROTB are, in a greater sense, partly responsible for the situation with Transformers designs all homogenizing around G1. The resistance to new designs or new takes on old characters means the variety goes way down. If you don’t allow the Transformers to have a variety of interpretations, you won’t have a variety of toys.

I actually enjoyed ROTB and plus didn't even care if Wheeljack's ROTB design isn't like his lousy BB 2018 design, even Armada Rampage and Energon Downshift are much cooler Wheeljacks to me than the original G1 iteration ever would XD lmao.

@LateNightHalo I can agree with this! I miss the days when characters could be reinterpreted in both personality and design and it wasn't such a huge deal. The 2000-'s through 2015 or so were great for that. It has always been ironic that fans of a franchise all about change are so afraid and resistant to it.

The only Bay characters I'd still like from Studio Series are: - Optimus in his AOE/TLK design - a Voyager version of Ratchet, and I'm hopeful because Evan did say in a recent Q&A that he wants to do this - Onslaught, which I've been wanting for about 7 years now.... - a re-release of Ironhide, either the same as before or with his DOTM weaponry If we can at least get those, I'll be satisfied with my Bayverse collection. Either way, I have no interest in Gamer Edition or Concept Art, the only Studio Series toys I plan on buying this year are Mohawk, 86 Optimus and maybe 86 Springer.

People seem to forget the original intent of the studio series. It was a line to celebrate the live action movies by giving us updated toys from previous times but also giving characters we never had. Kinda sad and annoying that it has taken this direction.

Exactly! People like to argue "well, that isn't the intent anymore" but like that is the issue. They changed the intent like 3 years into the line and after most Bay characters were done. If they had just kept SS mostly Bay until now I really do think we'd be done with the Bay movie cast.

Yes, it looks uncanny and a jarring to look at for too long. But it's not the character's fault he look like that. It's the designer's choice. And I thought it's an interesting choice of design, to be honest. What's next? Animatedwhiners? Armadawhiners? We already have Geewhiners and Baywhiners, or a different term for Bayformers fans who doesn't admit how much flaws Bayformers have that I don't know, and one I just recently made up Primewhiners. I keep on reading "Wheeljack was a wrecker and has swords. Not a crippled old man" from people on almost every video with Que on. Now the Prime show is almost getting a similar impression I'm getting from G1. Annoying fans who overrate their show too much that the character should EXACTLY be like that. To me, there should be more creative interpretation and not just rehashes of previous renditions. Wheeljack being a wrecker is a cool concept, I admit. He is cool. But Que is true in terms of his functionality in the Autobot faction with his G1 counterpart. An Autobot inventor. People look over on that because of his uncanny, ugly and jarring to look at head design. Rather than seeing he's actually pretty interesting despite the questionable choice of the design.

If 2025 Studio Series leaks shows nothing but Transformers One figures, with zero indication of any Bay figures I'll probably just order the outdated DOTM Que online. I am just tired of waiting for the LAST main DOTM autobot. At least Ironhide got third party upgrades and a KO that had the DOTM weapons.

I personally don’t have an issue with the 86 and other sublines being put in studio series, AS LONG AS 2 things happen. 1. They finish the bay figures promptly and put priority focus on them and 2. They stay true to what the studio series is actually supposed to be, and that is the most accurate representation of these designs. They started off strong but lately I feel they’ve gotten diluted and although you could still argue they are doing these 2 things, if it is an actual debate whether a figure from over 10 years ago is more accurate than a figure now that’s sole focus is on it being accurate, it’s not doing it right.

I'm a collector who stared it 2019-2020 with siege and didn't really like the Studio Series stuff (mainly due to bad experience with SS Crowbar) so I didn't really go for Studio Series stuff. I am a fan of the Bayverse and Live action movies but it wasn't my thing yet. I only got into Studio Series thanks to 86 line. I slowly collected each f the 86 figure I could get, then when the BB Cybertronian stuff came out with Soundwave and Wheeljack and Ratchet, I got into them too. From there I started to get into the Live Action stuff during the 2021 waves. Skipping to now and I currently have every SS Figure from 2021 onwards and slowly trying to collect every single Bayverse figure I can with only 15 figures left on my list, as well as having every BB figure and having every ROTB and 86 figure too. I did skip Gamer Edition because of how inconsistent the Quality was between figures. Studio Series is now my favorite line and I hope they keep doing Bayverse stuff, even if it is just reissues of stuff like Shockwave or Jetfire (They are pains to find for decent prices)

I pretty much agree with this whole thing, it really sucks how badly shafted Bayverse has been. I'm pretty sure the reason for expanding was for the longevity of the line since if it really wanted to finish Bayverse, it would be about a year of toys and then be done. But now we have stuff like SSGE and concept art that can expand on those to make them last longer. My guess for why Sunstreaker exists is because a WFC Sideswipe drops in the same wave and they wanted him for G1 reasons. Also yeah it really is dumb that people will praise more junkions or guys in Legacy like Detritus getting toys but Bay fans are just whining when they want a TLK Onslaught or something. Who knows, maybe 2025 will be our year, but I kinda doubt it. Especially when this year is the anniversary of two Bayverse films and neither are getting toys.

I'm pretty sure the reason is down to money. Sam Smith has mentioned a few times that live action figures just aren't as profitable, since they have to license the characters from paramount and the alt modes from whatever auto manufacturer. It's sad and lame but I think it's really a money thing, at the heart of it.

I know when SS86 was first announced, it did annoy me at first just because I felt like we were going strong with the Bayverse and Bee stuff on the side for those first 3 years. I thought with SS86, it would only maybe be some of the characters Hasbro couldn't fit within the Kingdom line like how we got Scourge and the Sweeps, Kup, Hot Rod, etc. But now they're squeezing characters like Ultra Magnus, Springer, and now another Prime into SS86 when those spots could've been given to characters like the AOE Dinobots or Infernocus. Like do we really need these characters again especially when it wasn't long that we got them in the Seige lines?! Don't get me wrong, I love me some G1, but I wish the G1 stuff stayed within it's main generations line and left SS to handle all of the live action stuff first with Bayverse before transtioning to something else. Cause now too we have to deal with that Gamer Edition which has way too many characters from all these games and god forbid, trying to complete the Bayverse collection in SS will take lord knows how many years now. Tbh I’m getting sick and tired that the bay bots aren’t receiving any new figures lately. The only one we received in a whole year is now core class mowhawk… seriously?? One figure in a whole year??? I’m still waiting for a new ss high octane bee cus there’s no way that 2 pack with stinger counts as a release for that. You know there is so much they can do with dark of the moons studio series characters, mostly the deceptions. They can make deception protoforms multi packs using other deception molds like the dread bots or make new molds entirely, They can make other figures of these protoforms taking different alt modes like police cars,suv, old cars, fire trucks and garbage trucks. They can even make a special set giving us the deceptions mothership in dark of the moon. There is so much they can do for these figures that it could possibly become it’s own small subline

i think a great step into the right direction would be using the concept line for the bayverse characters that never got to appear! would love breakaway from rotf and warpath from dotm. theres also DOZENS more that they could do, and even bring back some of the conceptual hunt for the decepticons figures from the rotf days, like osprey (live action springer) and dead end. i loved the scout class dead end, and his backstory is super interesting. would love to see an updated version of that character.

If Hasbro is making toys based on concept art, then they should include said concept art somewhere on the box so we know those designs exist. They very quickly padded out the 86 and BB toys, and so far, the concept art subline is only BB figures. I fully endorse #BacktoBaysics because the Bay movies are an important piece of Transformers as a whole and that importance should be reflected in the toys for Studio Series.

As someone who absolutely hates Bayverse designs and has zero interest in that side of Studio Series, I truly feel bad for the fans and collectors for those characters. It’s totally ridiculous that the line specifically made for the live action movies is now being invaded with so much extraneous stuff that the characters it was originally made for are hardly recognized. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the idea of making toys off of concept art, the games, and even just making new designs to fit that aesthetic, like BBM Sunstreaker. my biggest problem with studio series is how long it takes some bots to get to stores, I just found a rise of the beasts mirage but I've yet to see any maximals or wheeljack and that's crazy if the fallen came out in 2022 because he's just starting to show up in my stores but on the other hand my stores shelves are clogged with non studio series bots that they can't move at all!

Here’s an idea, If they want to do a gamer editing in SS then make figures of characters from the movie games. I would love to see a Breakaway or a Warpath. I wish studio series just stuck to finishing up the live action transformer movies, do a couple of redos from fan requests, and then call it a day (I do not hate 86 sub-line or even the wfc gamer editon line just not a fan of the inclusion and not my cup of tea). It’s been going for about 7 years now and feels like a slog for hasbro to release bay characters who never had figures or needed updated versions. I also heard that hasbro is retiring the core class so a frenzy, scorponok (2007), Rotf Ravage, wheelie, brains, some of the appliance bots, or hell a proper laserbeak is pretty unfortunate for bay fans who’ve been wanting those in that class. This is what happens when you focus on one piece of media for too long and just never finish up on what you started with. I’m just glad that Hasbro did Mohawk before they retired core class because if they replaced it with an 86 character who has a proper size he may have never been made. I definitely agree with this video and all of the points made. Great video!

In late 2022, things were finally looking up for the Bay directed films after the first half focused on Bumblebee. Then ROTB hit and the figures practically died out. Now, we have too many sublines akin to Legacy: All Live Action Films from Transformers 2007 to Transformers One (as originally intended), Concept Art characters (which were cool but most are really just an excuse to start doing more figures based on, regardless of how great the scene is in a vacuum, the most overall unfitting scene in Bumblebee), 86 (which hasn't been as prevalent as in it's first two years, but due to lack of SS figures in recent years alongside exclusives has a similar ratio, and besides really just needs Cyclonus and Galvatron before slowing down), and Gamer Edition (which sucks currently as not only are the film fans getting screwed over with less space, but the game fans are too with missing details, bad articulation, and/or horrid transformations). I will reply to this post with a Back to Baysics wishlist as this post is getting too long.

Here are the figures for each size class I would love to see if the SS line (even if barely) goes #BackToBaysics: Core Class: Frenzy, turning into a gun similar to the DNA Design Upgrade Kit, and all 3 versions of the twins, with the Ice Cream Truck version maybe being a Deluxe 2-pack repaint of their ROTF figures with new film accurate heads. Deluxe: all Mark Wahlberg film Bumblebees, because of the molds that he can obviously be retooled from, DOTM Que, as it's so hard to find an actual figure of him, AOE Crosshairs because the TLK version exists, both car Drift's, probably being either a new mold or retools of Nightbird, and TLK Deadbot, as a retool of SS ROTB Wheeljack with a new torso, head, hands, and feet. Voyager: AOE Optimus Prime and AOE/TLK Hound, though I don't know how they will turn out, TLK Onslaught, due to him being an interesting reuse of a design, and TLK Megatron, due to the Mainline Voyager being near perfect. Leader: obviously the AOE Dinobots, and ROTF Demolisher Commander: Devcon, obviously.

I don't mind if Hasbro turns the G1, characters designed to live action in the Bumblebee movie concept line they're way better than the original G1 and I know Hasbro can't make figures the was AOE and TLK because of their designs but some of them should be easy to do like TLK Barricade, TLK Megatron, AOE invasion mode Optimus Prime, and AOE Bumblebee in his black Camero if you know what I'm talking bout but yeah they just need to start with the easiest design and make it to the SS line that's what I would do if I work at Hasbro

They definitely need to do more! there are some hard designs, but Hasbro made a damn good AOE Galvatron in Studio Series so I have faith that they can do other designs as well.

I think they are just trying to make stuff they think people will buy and most money now is in ss86 and ssBB figures. I personally have the opposite and mostly own legacy/ss86/ssBB figures and the only one I own from bayverse is the core bumblebee one which is agree is not that great. Hasbro is just catering to the 35-45 age group and most of them are g1 fans with adult money. These figures aren't intended for children I find most kids aren't saving up for voyager or leader class figures. I've spent almost half as much as my mortgage on TF figures last year lol. You do bring up a good point I'm not buying any junkions and I have no idea why they keep making them

As someone who has stopped their movie collection in order to transition to more Generations and G1 I’ll still agree it’s wack that SS has done nothing much for the movies. I grew up with those movies and an issue I had was that I was still in High School wen SS started so I wasn’t able to get a lot of them mainly cuz the distribution was bad (I get it Covid happened) but it’s the fact that so many now cost so much that if they really need to I’d be down for straight reissues I still have a want for a movie Sentinel Prime and Grimlock but I refuse to rly pay that much (i haven’t been rly interested in hunting them down on other websites either to see if they might be decently priced) Devastator rly made me hyped for the future and while yea I was admittedly salty asf wen SS86 was announced I think they cool but not at the cost of making the movies roster smaller on release waves. Bumblebee movie stuff was also a big plus for me I at least still have those guys displayed but again it’s only now we are getting a Voyager Shockwave and it’s just wild, like where my AoE Scorn or Slash please I’d love to see them cuz again while I’m not collecting them anymore I’m always still so interested and happy for those who are wen these kinda things happen

While the gamer edition debatably does not belong in SS and should be moved to a different line, I think people can agree that G1 has taken it way too far and is basically a parasite at this point. Leeching on to other toy lines, in desperate attempt to stay alive and relevant. As if kingdom, and legacy wasnt G1 enough it had to keep relying on a piggy back on SS as well? It's like a washed out actor refusing to accept irrelevance and stealing spotlight of newer actors.

I think Gamer Edition works in it's own way, especially with the "Gamer Edition" branding. But yeah, G1 just seems to get inserted into other stuff for whatever reason. hell, apparently the reason SS86 even exists is because Kingdom was originally meant to be all G1 (again) before they decided to bring in the Beast characters, so they moved over a lot of the G1 into Studio Series.

Don’t get me wrong I love getting my G1 characters in modern form, as well as getting other series in Legacy, and I’m anticipating the TF:One figures, but it just feels like Bayverse is being swept under the rug and before major characters even get their chance to be reborn (or their first figure period) Yea yea, haha, screw bay, buncha metal in a blender, so original. Idgaf, you’re entitled to your opinions as much as I am mine, I’m not here to fight or argue. Don’t like it, don’t buy it, simple as, it’s not like you’re starving for toys. I like damn near everything we’re getting, especially now that animated and rocklords have joined Legacy. It just makes me sad that one of those avenues which I love and which got me into transformers (Bay) is getting less love from the creators. 5:19 If this rumor is true, then 2025 will be a gap year from Studio Series, for me. Unless there are characters outside of TF: One sprinkled in. I'm not hating on Transformers One, it isn't even out yet, and I'm interested in seeing the movie when it releases in theaters. But when it comes to collecting, a line has to be drawn somewhere to prevent a collection from toppling over and being crushed by the hobby one adores. I'll leave Studio Series TF: One to the next generation of Transformers collectors.

Honestly i understand the argument and respect you opinion and i wouldn't say their completely stopping production of bayverse figures just more or less taking a break so they can focus on finishing the roster characters from the current films and giving us a proper look and figure of bumblebee megatron while also giving gamer edition a test run by making wfc and foc figures as those two games are very popular in the transformers community As for concept art this could lead to some interesting ideas like we could get concept art of some characters such as autobot mixmaster from revenge of the fallen or as they'll probably call him rotf quickmix and maybe this could be a retool or new mold of mixmaster to incorporate the turret cannon mode instead of the devastator head As for gamer edition i did recall seeing a article that they could dive into other kind of studios like comic book studios meaning we could see some characters from the bayverse comics and games giving some time like swindle, dropkick, payload, hardtop, clocker, shockwave, tankor among many others As for skids and mudflap i can take a guess they probably wont do them not just because of the controversy around them but due to the fact skids and mudflaps toys warmed shelves during the orginal rotf toyline and hasbro doesn't want a repeat of that but if they do end up making the twins it'll be in very limit numbers or a exclusive to their website. As for my quick opinion on the twins they are just very annoying As for subject on too much G1 as i do like G1 but i agree we have too much and i like to see more transformers series in the spot light and low and behold with the recent wave of legacy united there are no g1 characters (not counting laser prime thats just a release) though for now at least

I’m new to collecting transformers. I grew up with the bayverse but have recently just started collecting the 86 line. I felt weird collecting the 86 line when I didn’t even grow up with it, just recently I’ve started watching the original show. As much as I love the bay verse and grew up with it I kinda want more studio 86 stuff. But I do understand that it sucks that they are leaving the bay verse in the dust. I bought the Amazon 4 pack of deceptions to pay homage to my love for the bayvers but I’ll be honest, all the bay verse figures look the same to me personally. The majority are all either black and gray, it makes them not stand out. I love the g1 designs because they are so colorful and give a sense of nostalgia(even if I didn’t grow up with them). Either way, I do agree that leaving the bay verse behind is the wrong move, we need something for everyone. Personally I feel like anything that’s not studio 86 or the bay verse line should go away.

I had to post a second comment nearly a month after ONE's trailer: regardless of your thoughts on the film, Elita and Alpha Trion deserved to have toys in the next two years. Also, in my opinion, the Concept Art figures and the Gamer Edition line were just there to fill slots. I feel like the Gamer Edition figures should have been characters from the Mark Wahlberg films and later ONE, whilst the Concept Art figures feel like scrapped ROTF 15 year anniversary figure-replacements, since they had enough slots in 2024 to do both versions of the Twins alongside Demolishor, but either they were unsure if they would sell, or they were asked to do some more characters from Bumblebee due to their positive reception back when less people rightfully criticised the Cybertron scene.

As for how I would fix it so as of right now there’s four main groups of toy, lines in SS The, Bay stuff gamer, 86, and now concept art, rise of the beasts is pretty much over so my solution that I would give to each different line is give them 25% of the figures that will come out each year maybe have some go down in percent for when a new movie comes out or something else but yeah, that’s basically my solution
