The Tamate Box was probably so strong because it was meant to blow up underwater, where bombs are usually less powerful

^ People forget that. Originally the tamate box contained the drugs that Hody used to buff himself. After the drugs were stolen the king put in a bomb big enough to destroy the next person that would open it so whoever is searching for the drugs wouldnt be able to get any. They forgot that they put a bomb in and let mamas troops take the box along with all the gold offerings. The king even reacted to it, saying that he hoped that they didn't take the tamate box by mistake. One piece has some amazing foreshadowing.
