I like that this block has that four patch on the bottom is turned. It looks like a puzzle piece. Love your channel, Annette!

Bonjour Annette.

💛💛. À bientôt ! ~ Annette

@@lindastrous5243 Glad to hear it Linda! It is really fun and keeps me thinking. I have a new challenge to consider, one of our local beer brewers asked if I could do anything with an empty grain bag..... I've got my thinking cap on ! Stay tuned! 💛🤣

Great idea! To put the pattern in your computer and extend it to get a more full picture of possibly figuring out why that one four-patch was turn differently. First of all, if it had been set in the direction of the others, we would be seeing a definite chain going through the whole quilt. When I first glanced at the two color quilt I thought .... garlic knot! It makes sort of a garlic knot,, but one leg is in the wrong place, obviously! A way to beef up color? Break up the white? I was trying to think of how many white spaces would be in the quilt, but, of course, a computer program would do that quite handily. I decided a long time ago to leave "technology" to those who can actually use it better than I ever would - - because there are so many great quilt patterns already! LOL. And, I never intended to get to know all the existing patterns.

Hi Mary! Another commenter was wondering if this book had a misprint, and I am getting the author's civil war quilt book from the library, to see how it is shown in that book! I'll update when I find out! It's cool nevertheless! ☀️☀️☀️

In another book, I looked up the "True Blue" block. My book had the same two names. The variance was that the TOP 4-patch was also turned. This makes a squared off 'star' or pinwheel in the center.

Yes! I'm going to do a video just on this block! I've gotten a couple of books from the library and it is very interesting! 💛💛💛

I wonder if that was a print error for the block being turned.

That is a great question!☀️ I like finding things out, so I am checking out Barbara Brackman‘s Civil War sampler from the library because I saw that that block might be in that book. There’s also a 1929 Ruth Finley book and I’m going to see if I can find that to borrow from my library!! 📚 👍

Great block! Do you think that the one four square was turned differently was a mistake in the book? It would be interesting to find it in another block encyclopedia to see if it's laid out the same way.

Thank you! 💛💛💛 I think both are possible. The part that is turned the other way could create a secondary pattern if it was the only block in a quilt, so very reasonable that somebody did it on purpose. Also could've been an oops that they didn't feel like fixing! (not that I would know anything about that 🤣🤣🤣)

@sunbeamfabricart oh no, I never make mistakes in my quilts either. And she laughed and laughed and laughed....😆

O My Goodness! This is the block I have been looking for. I found a baby quilt at a yard sale (nothing wrong with it) and it is this exact block. I have also wondered why that one 4 patch was turned opposite. Annette I would love to send you a picture of this quilt - do you have an email address I could send to you? This quilt is going to be so very beautiful!
