I am at 11 minutes in and i already hate the damm board. Yes, its pretty. But the colors pop out too much. they are too bright. After the initial "hey, pretty board!" moment you wil start seeing that it gets in the way of gameplay. You can barelly see the damm icons that you need in order to play. Until Monique pointed at the blue meeple at the top of the board i had not seen it there. Then she proceeds to explain the market and puts a orange resource there. On the orange board. Right next to a red piece, which you can also not see very well. The background does not understand that it needs to stay in the back. Its an eyesore, and it gets in the way. Tone the colors of the background down, mute then. Maybe we will be able to see the pieces and play the game then.

@@BeforeYouPlay i agree completely with the OP and commented such on the BoardGameCo channel. In addition the eyesore board, the building cards have a type icon un the upper left hand corner that is difficult to nearly impossible to see depending on the particular building art. The publisher responded and said its been redesigned to make it more functional. So, i went to the Gamefound site and looked at the rules. The board is indeed better. I wont go so far as to say good, but its certainly better than it was. I would encourage recardolecocq to give it a peek. Unfortunately, the building cards seem to be pretty much the same and if you look at the card list at the end of the rules where images of all cards exist, you can see the fading type icon issue still exists. While i am very much impressed with the overall game play, I cant bring myself to support the GF. oh and thank you for the game play through...excellent as usual.

It does look busy but I had no trouble understanding it or seeing all the important symbols.

@@BeforeYouPlay I noticed the same thing regarding the inability to easily find the spaces and symbols on the board and made a comment on the BoardGameCo channel. I also mentioned the faint building type symbols, some of which are nearly invisible due to the underlying art. I got a response from the publisher who said the art has been redesigned for the production copies...as the ones used here and in other videos are prototype copies. So I looked at the rulebook linked on GF and looked at the images used to explain the game. The game board is indeed better. I wouldnt go so far as to say good yet, but its a significant improvement. The building cards are all shown in the last couple of pages and unfortunately, the building type symbols remain as muted as before. So despite really liking the game play, the GF is a no go. .
