Yes, you can start GATE preparation from 1st year onwards. You can start with Maths in first year. That will be a big advantage. From second year, you can start working on the syllabus given for core subjects. You can check for online coaching institutes in the first two years.

1. Yes, your CGPA will be based on final marks. So it will improve based on all 8 semesters mark you get, if you score high in 4th sem and final year. 2. Your mark in BTech doesn't matter for IIT admission. They allocate seat purely based on GATE top score On a side note, whatever is your past backlog history, don't worry. Work hard towards excellence from now on. You can achieve lot in life pa.. all my best wishes..

Yes, surely you can. Would encourage you to watch last 6months roadmap video. Or the first year roadmap video. Check if your confidence level is like what is said in that video, then you can start immediately. Regarding books: It depends on the branches. 1. Buy Solved PYQ book for your branch, maths & general aptitude 2. Other books, better to follow the books you follow in college based on GAtE syllabus and PYQs. instead of searching and reading new books for it.

You can buy a PYQ solved book along with basic theory concepts covered in it. That can be a concise version to start. Otherwise, It's better to go with the books you followed in Engineering instead of buying new. Use NPTEL videos as well. If you are OK to spend, get materials from any coaching institute you prefer.

Whatever subject you have taken in college & GATE paper you have chosen; within that you need to prepare only for the subjects in GATE syllabus. You can prioritize based on the high scoring chapters within it.

Not required now. Go through the syllabus and start solving GATE questions in Engineering Maths (1st year portion). In the 2nd year, when your stream subjects starts, you can decide on coaching. All the best and congrats for planning early!

You can start preparing in parallel with your work. Start at 2 hrs per day and try to give 6 to 8 hrs on weekends to begin with. The time taken to qualify / score high marks depends on your base knowledge in your subject. Better to have a realistic plan.

Nowadays almost all PSUs hire CSE students, for their internal IT development / networks department. Eg. BEL, PowerGrid, BHEL, NTPC, ONGC etc. But as you said, most being heavy industries the number of vacancies will be less in comparison to other streams. You can use GATE for IIT / NIT PG admission and get placed in good pvt companies there. Preparing will help in your placements in UG too.

Haha. My mark was not that high. I could only get MTech seat in NIT Calicut using that. It was just 4 marks more than qualification for that year. But studying in NITCalicut gave me so much confidence & exposure in life.

All of these are fields which have regular openings from PSUs. It's better that you select the course you like the most and you will be competitive & comfortable to work in.

There is no age limit and hence you are eligible for GATE. For Direct PhD and MTech again there is notl age limit and so you can. For PSUs, few companies have 24 year as upper limit and few have 30 as upper limit (for general category), so pls check that. If you are already working somewhere, consider all the options you have for career progress before taking GATE preparation. Because some PSUs take 4 year experienced engineers without GATE also. Fellowship program is 4-year Doctoral program offered by IIMs. If you have interest in management, you can choose that. Better to maintain a high GATE score. All the very best.

Aama. Other department papers ezhuthalam. If you are planning for MTech, then fine. For PSUs it's better to write GATE exam I'm your stream itself. You can write two papers in GATE. So that may be an option too.. be very careful in selecting the alternative paper.

Couldn't get your question completely! If you are asking for GATE, better to go with Biotechnology paper. Can you give specifics about the organization / notification you are referring too

@@vidhya_vj Ok. Naan neenga BTech-nu ninachen. For DRDO Scientist B Post, they will expect BE / BTech in BioTech or MSc in BioTech with GATE BT score. Ipo neenga BSc panrathala, better prepare for GAT B & BET, to get MSC / JRF. MSc panama GATE BT panina periya use illa.
