The eligibility criteria is Bachelors degree in any branch of science. So, you are eligible to write GATE exams. There are no restrictions in selecting the paper in GATE based on your UG degree.

There are two papers related to Food Technology. 1. Engineering Sciences (XE) In this paper, there are 2 sections. One section is compulsory. Another one is optional. As per the eligibility criteria announced by the GATE committee, 3rd year or above students can write GATE. I think it was given by mistake. The validity of GATE is 3 years. So, if you attend the GATE in your 4th or 5th year of study, you can avail the GATE score for admission.

You can do the correction in the correction window. I am not sure when it opens. It may open on the first week of November. When it opens, either delete the secondary option or replace Chemistry by Bio Technology or Ecology and Evolution. One more option is leave as it is. Don't do any correction and be absent for Chemistry exam.
